Rated 5 out of 5 by from Priced right and performs well My first printer was a Brother. I 'upgraded' to HP model due to promo pricing and cartridge recycling program. BIG mistake. Constant software and performance issues. Final straw was HP covertly reprogramming cartridge chip configuration rendering my replacement cartridges useless and refusing to swap. Back to Brother and all is well again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not what I hoped for. This printer has not worked out very well for me. It's a little to big for my workstation. One of the reasons I bought this was for the single document feeder. I print alot of checks, and need that feature, but its on the back of the printer, so it's hard for me to get to. Also, I haven't figured out how to use the single feed. With my old printer, as long as there was a check or sheet of paper in the document feeder, the printer would grab that instead of grabbing paper from the main paper tray. I emptied the main paper tray, but it still won't recognize the check thats in the document feeder, so nothing happens. I've scanned some photo's and they come out darker then the original. Also, very frustrating, is when printing multiple pages, they don't come out and lay one on top of the other. So as one page is dropping into the tray, it often slides in underneath one of the previous pages, so I have to go through and organize them. Other than that, the print quality is fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good printer bad ink replacement The printer works good except for the automatic ink ordering. 2 out of 3 times that it tried to order ink I got an email saying the ink wasn’t in stock. The auto ink replenish was a big reason I got this unit. I live in a rural area and the closest place that carries the ink is 40 miles away. The local Wal-Mart doesn’t even carry it.

This one scans and prints 2 sided which takes less movement of paper to make it happen (pick up first side scan, turn over, scan second side. Saves paper when side 2 is printed on back. Had to wait 2 months for it to become available again, but it was worth it.

Resolution - Brother sent me a new machine. 2nd & 3rd issues - 2 x's after receiving my new machine, I had to call tech support because the scans weren't being sent to my computer. Resolution - Both times I was instructed to delete and reinstall the Brother software. 4th issue - yesterday (12/2/20 I was trying to print and kept getting an error telling me to reseat a print cartridge. I tried multiple times - didn't work. I also shut machine down and restarted, again, didn't worked. This morning before I called tech support to resolve issue, machine was working.

It took awhile to find a model that had the features that I wanted because many models were not available, I assume due to Covid. I am very happy with the printer but wish it could do 2-sided scanning.

Two sided color pages seem to hang up each time and the sheets are almost wet. 3. seems to be hard to dislodge a page further printing - not sure if it is the printer or the computer.

Wireless printing from my mobile devices is very convenient. This unit is a little more compact than the previous Brother printer it has replaced. I think my favorite feature is the fold out rear tray for envelopes. I no longer have to empty a paper tray and load in an envelope!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not sure what to expect, but so far pleased. After our old Epson printer crapped out on us, decided to try another brand. Reason for the change was that our first Epson printer crapped out and Epson replaced it with refurbished model which after about two years crapped out. Was going to replace it with another Epson but decided against it as it did not have a fax integrated into the machine. The Brother model which did have the fax integrated has a bit larger footprint but was happy with set up and ease of connecting with computers in the house. Printing has been excellent so far but will better to be able to judge when we process through several ink cycles. So far, pretty pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printer but software needs a lot of work As far as the printer is concerned, it works really well and it’s fast. However, having used HP products for a long time, I’m pretty disappointed with the software that comes with the product. It seems clunky and not very intuitive. If Brother could improve on that, this product would be far superior to HP. The cost of operation is better and overall the printer works great. I would suggest a simple interface that sits on the desktop and has access to the various functions all on one place. HP has that and it is much easier to use for that reason. Overall I’m not unhappy with the printer because I have become accustomed to finding the controls, but I’m sure some will find it daunting. There are too many steps to do in order to scan, print etc, instead of one-click operation. It shouldn’t be that difficult. I hope Brother will take a serious look at this issue.

It could really serve as a small office printer as the speed and options it has. The only thing I would like to see improved is the yield from the printer cartridges.

It was easy to install and the WiFi set up was also easy. The printer works great and prints quality documents. Excellent machine.

Love the wireless features for my home network. Never have to worry about running out of ink it always orders a chartage when one gets low. Live it. Hey people get out of those cheap$99 throwaway printers. This is a little workhorse.

But trying to figure out which way to turn your paper in the slot is extremely complicated. There are no clear directions on profile and landscape and doesn't seem to be any pattern. It's very frustrating. and the scanner does only an average job. Copies are good. Overall, I give it 3 stars.

This model does not do double-sided scanning: Pages that are printed on each side of the page. This is a major let-down for the price of this model. Nowhere is this stated in the material - very misleading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good All-In-One Although the scanner does not do duplex scanning, you can scan the odd pages in and then scan the even pages into one file. Brother will hit a homerun with this product if they will update the printer drivers to include putting the pages in order once scanned, which is something easy to fix. Then it will be a 5 Star/Excellent All-In-One product. It is a large unit and is sturdy but not too heavy. The paper tray is easy to slide out and refill and holds a generous 250 sheets. I particularly like the single sheet/envelope loader on the back. If you need to do a mail-out, you can put a stack of envelopes in the paper tray instead of using the back feeder. This unit installed on both our Windows and Mac computers with relative ease. Mac was super easy; Windows took a little more effort but not hard. I don't do much Faxing, but it's working fine. The printout is very nice and clear. I keep checking the print cartridges because I had read the ones that come with the printer only last a short time. Mine are still close to full after three weeks of use. I have not been able to get the PaperPort to work as of yet, perhaps because I'm using Vista? It will scan directly to cloud accounts such as Evernote, Dropbox, OneNote, and others but you will have to use a 3rd party page sorter to see the pages in order. I'm happy with my purchase, but will be thrilled if Brother will add that page sorter to an updated driver. Are you listening Brother?

A list of all recommended for all spin-up menus would be helpful. QUESTION: is there a setting for scanning 2 or more photos and having each automatically saved in separate files? My previous scanner had such a setting.

The printer is fast and produces quality output and stores plenty of paper. The printer cost was highe value for the money. The only concern I had was getting more ink cartridges. Brother has them on order, but not in stock, so I had to order from a 3rd party vendor.

I would have given it five stars but I had a difficult time during the set up ( although I believe it was my weak wifi signal strength which caused the issues. The best use of this particular model would be for personal home use and not highly recommended for a small business with more than 10-20 employees.

My one complaint is the manual feeder has to be used for envelopes and it hates them. I spend 5 times the amount of time that I should to print envelopes between it not seeing them, it spitting them out, or it jamming. The sad thing is I bought it so that I could print envelopes with it.

I received this as a gift for my birthday and its been great. Ideally was looking for something that was more for printing photos, which this can, but isn't the best for the quality I'm looking for, it prints fast and works well with many different types of stickers and papers I use in it.

I can purchase colored ink at office stores; just not black. Love the two sided features, the color photos print nice (although they use a lot of ink, the 'fast' option to save toner,and the bright colors when printing in color.

The printer also doesn't register a flash drive if there is an empty ink cartridge. Keep ink in stock or this printer essentially blocks out it's functionality until you replace cartridges.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good printer if the black ink would work properly I would have given the printer a better review if the black ink jet would not be continuously clogged. I do believe this is an issue specific to my machine and when the black ink jet is not clogged it prints very fast and clear. However, I have ran multiple cleaning processes and have contacted support multiple times in regards to this issue. The last time I was on the phone with Brother Support, they indicated that I could not get the machine replaced under warranty unless I ran through the deep purging process with them. When we started the process, my black ink ran out due to the numerous cleaning processes it has been through. Tech support told me that I would have to purchase a new ink cartridge and then call them back. I finally I was able to speak to a manager. They agreed to send me a new ink cartridge at no additional cost so that I can call back, and run through the deep purge process. We shall see what happens once I receive the new cartridge.

I print roughly 50 pages a week in a small business & use the scanner function with the Paper Port Program quite often. The machine was purchased mid February 2020 & I haven't changed the ink yet since I've had it. The description stated the ink was supposed to of lasted for roughly a year or a certain # of pages, but the black ink is almost gone already after 2.5 months & not even close to the page count. So it doesn't seem to be as great on the ink as initially described, which is the reasoning for only 4 stars. It still is much better on the ink then some others that I have used. It can be a little noisy since it's an inkjet, but it doesn't print in high quality & at a fairly quick speed too. Very please overall with the choice!

Touch screen is responsive and easy to use. Scanner works extremely well and print quality is very good even on draft. Network connection functions exceeds all expectations. The only down side is the size of the item itself.

I bought this and immediately threw those other 3 printers in the trash. It was very easy to set up and use and the print quality is excellent. Love how I can just print wirelessly from my iPhone or MacBook. I've also scanned pictures and documents with great results. This is the way printing should be. Easy and fun! I absolutely love it!!

I was able to connect it to my mobile hotspot to continue working during the hurricane when we were without cable for about a week. Brother website is great for any questions, and I know there is much more this printer can do than what I have used it for. The color is very vivid. I have no complaints other than the envelope feeder is a little awkward being in the back, but I am sure that will be a matter of adjusting the printer to a different location.

Customer service refused to mail a replacement part saying I would have to drive 30 minutes to a service center where the part would be ordered I would then have to return weeks later to pick it up. I have purchased at least a half dozen Brother printers over the years. This will be my last Brother printer

It will not read flash drives. It will not scan to any device hooked up to it, and the instructions to "switch to grayscale" do nothing per your response to my review. To anyone who can read this, do yourself a favor and do not buy unless you plan on stocking up on ink cartridges. This thing eats them whether you print anything or not.

The ink cartridge access is very much easier than other printers I've had, and the cartridges more reasonably priced, not mentioning any other honored printers by name. This was my first experience with a Brother printer, although it joins my sewing machine, as the most favored.Easy set-up, automatic two-sided printing.

We have tried several other brands and had to return them. Customer service for those brands was almost impossible to reach and not helpful, customer service at Brother is easy to reach. The only challenge is a pop-up on the computer that keeps the computer from shutting down.

The printer goes offline 5 to 6 times per day and has to be rebooted in order to work, which defeats the purpose of a wireless printer. You should put a kill switch to turn off the sleep feature so the printer would stay at "Ready" and, therefore stay online. Your support people only provide canned solutions that do not solve this problem! I first owned a less expensive Brother wireless printer, MFC-J985DW, for when I travel and it worked flawlessly. So I later purchased the more expensive MFC-J5330DW which was a big mistake!

I had one wireless issue that the Brother IT Tech went above and beyound to help me with but the problem ended up being my computer. It ended up being an easy fix and I couldn't be more happy with Brother. You can't go wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised With so many Multi-Function Centers to choose from, it can be difficult to decide which one to purchase especially when your an avid review reader like myself. This purchase was particularly frustrating because I let myself for a moment, get caught up in the Pro's & Con's (mostly con's of all the MFC's out there and fortunately, I came back to my senses and reminded myself that there are reviewers out there who are not happy with their purchase of a Blue Moon, because it doesn't look like the one they see in the night sky. This MFC had its share of negative reviews, one, in particular, was, it's noisy, but compared to the Brother MFC-7440 that we were replacing or the HP Officejet Pro 8100 that we also use on a regular basis, the truth is, the Brother MFC-J5330DW is quieter than both of them. And the print response time even duplexing is much faster on our Brother than our OfficeJet Pro. Machine set-up following the machine prompts was issue free and the I-Print app allows me to print doc's captured with my phone via my CamScanner (CS) app straight to the printer rather than through email like I have been doing. We have yet to use the USB port, so I can't comment on that feature, and the only issue's we have experienced yet, which could possibly be a user error, would be feeding docs into the document reader. If your docs are not perfectly aligned, you will experience a few excruciating moments while you watch your docs being consumed, and the second would be making sure you have pushed your docs far enough into the auto-reader especially when sending a fax it seems, or you will come back and find your docs still sitting in the feeder slot. Outside of these two items, we are using our new Brother MFC on a daily basis and are more than confident that we made the correct choice in staying with a Brother product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and great print quality I ordered this printer to replace another inkjet printer that was getting tired. No, it was not a Brother brand. When the new printer arrived, I was surprised at how heavy it was and seemingly very well built. Setup was easy, but Windows 10 decided it's printer drivers were adequate. No way ! The Windows driver did not support duplex printing. Thankfully the included Brother driver CD installed the full suite of drivers and accessories without any issues. I deleted the Windows provided printer driver and all was well. The printer is fast and starts printing within a very few seconds of sending a document to be printed. Very nice feature ! I have printed pictures, emails, labels of various sizes and complexity and all came out just perfect. I have tried printing legal size documents using the back sheet feeder and, while somewhat confusing, was successful. The HUGE documentation file on this printer is simply fantastic. While huge and detailed it is far superior to any other printer instructions I have ever seen. I have tried/used all of the printer features except the FAX as I have a separate FAX machine and don't need it on the Brother printer just yet. Ink consumption seems "normal" so far. The included ink cartridges appear to have more ink than other brands of printers give you with the "trial cartridges". Now, for a couple of observations that need to be mentioned. The paper feed process is very noisy. And, loading the paper tray requires retracting the output paper tray, opening the paper supply tray, removing the plastic cover, and then loading the paper. A bit of a bother, but you do get used to the rhythm of doing it .... and just remembering to pull out the paper output tray when you are done. I have had only one paper misfeed/jam so far and it was easy to clear. I think the paper corner might have been curled a bit in the feed tray. So, bottom line, I really like this printer..

I hadn’t printed more than 200 pages total by that point. Brother service was somewhat helpful, but the problem persisted. They sent me a new printer, which had the exact same problem. At that point, my business had been without a functioning printer for almost a month. Since the problem repeated in the second printer, I assume it is a manufacturing defect. I returned the printer for a refund and bought another brand.

The printer immediately informed that a firmware update needed to be made and then installed it with no problems. Installation of the software required that I select the printer on the network and then everything else was installed without no more user interaction. I installed it on 3 computers.It prints very fast, the print is sharp, the ink dries quicker than my previous printers, and photos look great. I've printed a lot of pages in the month that I have had the printer and I'm still on the starter cartridges. I wish that it had a photo tray, but that is a minor complaint.

I feel the printer when used over WIFI prints well from laptops used all over the house and is secure. The print quality is first rate. The only negative and it's a minimal concern is the replacement ink cartridges can sometimes be a little challenging to locate in a retail store for pick up. But overall a great product.

I have only had this printer for a few weeks. So far it is performing well. I have yet to try to take old photos and convert them to digitized pictures using the MFC J5330DW. That is my next project. I hope they will be as good as the printer seems to be.

It does not recognize my pc from scan display. I chose this because of it's desktop footprint, but would not recommend it!

However, the Brother software would not recognize the printer I installed at my home. I spent hours trouble shooting. Microsoft would recognize the home based printer, no problem. Issue is I could not use scan feature at home. Brother will not recognize its own printer. I ended up throwing the home based printer in the trash. I don't regret it. I was very angry and was happy to get that printer out of my life.

The ink was very reasonable in price. I also, like the fact that I only have to purchase the ink that I need. Instead of all colors. That was a problem I had with my old brothers printer. I have been able to print from my phone, and tablet. Setting up the printer wirelessly was simple and easy. The only con that I have for this printer, resulting in the 4 rating is that: I was looking for a printer that double side prints from both online and physically at the top. This printer only prints 2 sided from online easily. But to copy 2 sided, I have to scan 1 side, take out the page and scan the other side for it to print double sided. When doing my research, I could have sworn I saw that this printer could both, print online and copy 2 sided easily. That's my only problem with this printer. That's too much work.

Regardless, if you are out of ANY colors it stops ALL printing, including ability to print in black & white. This printer makes one TOTALLY UNPRODUCTIVE. Rated 5 out of 5 by from high quality machine I do love this all in one office machine. There is really only one complaint that I can think of, and even that could be a function of my own ignorance. The complaint is that of ambiguity regarding documentation and end user instructions for accessing and using all the features of this machine. To be more precise, I wish the machine was a little more intuitive up front, and there was an actual User Manual, either on paper or a CD-ROM that shipped with the machine. Beyond that, I am completely satisfied with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printer... Forgets where it is!! The printer does everything it's supposed to, except stay connected via wireless connection. Each time I print (after a day or two I have to go to the setup wizard and remind it what network it's on!! I only have one network!! Also, despite installing the full package of software AND updating to ensure everything is current, I'm still having problems with the printer driver. It offers a bunch of drivers, but the default is a generic driver, which doesn't allow two sided printing. Changing the driver is a hassle, as it keeps going back to the default driver!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It! 20+ yrs in a home office, have always had Epson & HP printers because they had the most options at the stores. Thank you Covid! No seriously... thank you Covid! I went to two different stores and the few all-in-ones that were on the shelf were my only options. There was no website orders or hopes of a new shipment next week. So I went home and started searching online. I was never crazy about my other printers, especially the HP's, so I figured I'd try a Brother. Best printer I've ever had!! Zero paper jams and incredibly fast. I use several different types of paper and have never had a problem. The paper tray could be improved a little, but it's not a big deal. Brother printers are forever in my future now!
