Great budget multi-function laser printer!
In 2012, I purchased a very basic and inexpensive Brother HL-2270DW laser printer. This printer served me well without issue for 11 years and is still going strong. Three months ago, I decided to upgrade because I wanted a scanner to store more documents digitally. I was on the fence about whether to spend more for a color laser vs black & white. I ultimately opted for this printer in black and white. So far I'm very happy with this printer. I'm confident that it will serve me well long-term without issue.

Easy Setup
I am putting my 2000 color laser to rest. It still works but to big for where I need it. Setup on this new one was a ery easy and wifi printing, which my older Brother can't do.

This MFC worked great for 18 months..then completely died. No power. Nothing. The warranty is good for one year. So frustrating

Exceptional Performance
Printer is exceptional; the only issue I have is when either the PC or the Printer update they no longer talk to each other via wireless network and both need to be restarted to connect again. small inconvenience but above all its doing it's job.

this is a great black and white printer works well and great autofeed scanner. If the opportunity presented i would have upgraded to the color MFC L3770 i have at another location. I have found the brother products to be first rate!!!

It recently bit the dust and I knew without a doubt that I would only replace it with another Brother printer. Best printers for business by far.

My Brother refurbished mfc works well, is half the size of my previous one, seems to have larger toner cartridge and paper tray. But I only a 1-2-year warranty. Fingers crossed.

A heavenly godsend. I’m a full time graduate student going completely online. I also have personal research projects I work on. I go through periods where I don’t print for months, and out of nowhere I need to print a lot of pages. Had enough of wasting money on ink that would dry out or have heads clogged so bad I had to buy a whole new inkjet. It was so incredibly wasteful and always left me in a bind when I needed to print something critically important. I decided I needed a decent laser printer that could lay asleep for extended periods and then print like a beast when the need arose. I print from my MacBook, my iPad, my iPhone without any issue. Setting it up on the network was absolutely hands down the most painless wireless setup I’ve ever experienced. Doing scans wirelessly is quick too. Do you know why I love this printer? Because it’s no fuss and it’s invisible in the background. When I do need it, it does it’s job reliably and then gets out of my way and disappears back into the background. One less super frustrating thing to have to worry about. Things I don’t like, the DPI resolution on the scanner is okay, but I’d like to see some ridiculous high resolution because I do scan small documents and photos sometimes. Printing on envelopes is disgusting. If I didn’t have the self adhesive paper strips on the flaps, the heat from printing would have sealed the envelope closed. The printer also creases the envelope badly. Extremely unprofessional looking after the envelope has been run through the machine. Those weird quarks out of the way, I print flawlessly on 28lb copy paper, 24lb “parchment” surface, and 24lb 25% cotton linen. I got my Brother MFC-L2730DW from the shelf at Walmart, since it was the most expensive option. I knew it would be an investment on cost/waste and savings on my sanity. I love it! Buy it nice or buy it twice.

Great machine and fast
This printer is great for my business. The only thing I wish I would’ve known is it wasn’t color. When I needed a printer I got this one and after I had all installed is when I realized it. Box wasn’t labeled well to know but my fault for not doing enough checking first. But for a black and white this thing is great! I’m connected through my phone too and super easy to print from it as well! Who doesn’t use their phone for everything these days and this is just one more added feature. The connectivity to the Wi-Fi was simple. The only cord it uses is the power cord. As long as everything else is Wi-Fi capable you don’t need any other cords. It’s really great for me!

Great products but need a direct hookup to CPU
All functions are great. Very easy to install if you got direct hookup from computer to the printer which is not provided for wireless model. There is no way to use your network key to install the wireless model.

Review Brother printer MFC-L2730DW
The printer was an easy setup. So much so that I handed this off to my youngest who was looking for something to do. To my surprise it worked perfectly, I've been using it sense. Use of the fax isn't what it used to be as alternate outlets have developed. The only thing I wish it did but it doesn't appear to is duplex scanning. As a tax professional, I get many broker statements that are 10 plus pages.

Really like my MFC-2730DW. I purchased it to replace another printer. I had never made a laser printer before. I like the speed and ease use. The instructions that could have been better. Having to stop something to go online to answer a question before continuing is just wrong.

Software error message.
I scanned 1 document and saved it to my pc. Ever since I scanned the document, I get a message to check to see if the printer is connected. It then runs a diagnostic and says everything is ok. This happens when I print or copy.

Not recommended for a business. High maintenance, toner and drum cartridges too expensive and short lived. Best to buy the printers that have a larger cartridge. Too expensive in the long run. ideal for home use!

Very Good general printer but poor manual feed
The printer interfaces with my Mac and Windows machine very well and there was little effort on my part. It does a great job with standard printing from the main try. What it doesn't do a good job with is manual feed tray. I was going to use this with printing envelopes and card stock but it doesn't do either well. The envelopes get off track very easily and I'm getting feed and image quality issues with the card stock. This is with different sized envelopes and card stock.

Overall printer is good for printing
Printer is fine for printing. Touch screen is picky. You have to touch required action just perfect for it to recognize your request. You can't adjust touch screen to an angle that works for you. Top flap that holds documents for scanning does not fold done. This is an issue for us. We roll our other Brother Laser Printer back under our desks when not using. Setting for color density, contrast, etc is hard to find. I still haven't found it.

Very disappointed - The unit may be defective. I purchased this for my assistant. She only used it for a couple of weeks and printed approximately 3/4 ream of paper with no graphics - then the OEM ink cartridge that came with the unit ran out of ink. We replaced the ink cartridge with an aftermarket cartridge and the printer is now VERY loud and makes a grinding noise. *Never had an issue with any a/m ink cartridge with other printers and I rely on purchasing a/m ink for the large cost savings. It also frequently disconnects itself from wireless mode.

Good product with a couple of small ticks.
I like the brother printers, that's why I have 3 in my office. The only fault that I have with them is they do not always pickup and envelope for printing and you may have to try several times to get the result you want. Sometimes it will print both sides when you only want one side with no option.

Reliable First Step
I needed a printer that connects to all my devices. I’ve found this printer works very well with my different computers and tablets. It only took a few minutes to connect them all and I come back later and they're are all still there. I started to dislike inkjet printer because I could never get to use all of the ink before it would destroy the printer. Hopefully laser won’t go bad.

serious bug in printer
Every time I use the scan option, I become unable to print one-sided until I uninstall and reinstall the printer driver.Yes, I know how to select one-sided printing. There is no way to reach a Brother service rep for help and the FAQs with canned advice are no help.

Too cumbersome for simple jobs
I went to print an envelope and couldn't believe how complex the whole orocess was. Open theback of the printer, manually pull dowm two tabs, insert envelope onto the manual slot, print, reopen the back of the printer, push these two tabs back to the original position and close the back of the printer. REALLY?

No more dried out cartridges! Great for home use.
Works Great! Much better than an inkjet. I don't have to worry about dried out cartridges. Lower cost and also good for occasional use. Worth the investment, savings within first year, because I'm not spending on expensive cartridges for my occasional prints jobs.

I am a university professor and work a lot on my research projects and teaching material from homw. Y work involves a lot of writing and printing. I am very satisfied with this printer. It is fast and has lots of functionality.I only recently discovered that /i can also send email from the machine directly to an email address (without using my computer).
The live chat support is excellent. I think it shoiuld also be available on Saturdays. Also, there are several usable apps listed under apps on the screen. There should be some explanation of their usage.

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. The printer was VERY easy to install in a matter of minutes, including the built in wifi function. We are able to print wirelessly from our phones and computers with ease and I was shocked at the great speed the first time we printed a document. It is also an extremely quiet printer. The scanning and copying functions are fast and have nice crisp detail. I love that you can scan into many different formats (PDF, image, etc. It`s also great to have a sheet feed scanner rather than my old flat bed scanner that took a lot of time to individually scan each paper. The two-sided printing is super fast and high quality. I haven`t tried the faxing function as I really haven`t needed to fax anything but I like that I have the option to fax when needed. I was expecting the size to be larger so was pleasantly surprised at it`s compact size that fits nicely in my home office. I absolutely recommend this printer to anyone.

Holy mother of easy!
I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. In all honesty, I don`t believe I`ve ever had so easy a set-up for any printer in my life!..First the printer is very well packaged. Nothing jostles around and everything was easy to find in the box. Not hugely heavy to lift out and the printer is actually a bit smaller than the box makes it appear. Once removed from the box, the tape over the moving parts of the printer is very easy to remove and leaves no sticky residue. I followed the quick setup guide even though I`m fairly technically savvy. The instructions were super easy to follow and the on screen instructions intuitive and simple. The printer was connected to my home internet in less than 30 seconds!I was a bit nervous in having to push the toner cartridge into the machine firmly because I didn`t want to break anything fresh out of the box. But the instructions said to press it in firmly so I did. Once it clicked it was no problem. I didn`t have to run any installation disk. Because it was connected to my home internt my computer found it when I went to print something. Add printer found it in 10 seconds and connected in less than 20. The print quality is crisp and clean with no pixelation.I swear, less than 5 minutes from opening the box to printing a sheet of paper! Holy mother of easy! What an awesome printer this is so far!

Office quality printer for home
I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. The Brother MFC-L2730DW Laser Printer had been a great addition to our home office. We received the printer and my 16 year old was able to set it up incredible easily due to the easy set up process and and great quick starter guide. The print outs are very clear with consistant ink flow and print very fast. The documentation says 36 pages per minute and i definitely think that is true. I do think that it`s kind of loud but thats probably. I was surprised to find out it wasn`t a color printer but at least it does scan in color. I love the big paper drawer as it`s easy to access and holds 250 sheets of paper so we won`t have to reload often. I`m excited that the cost of copies isn`t as big an issue because i like having print outs of my work but I`m always weighing the cost verses need. This printer also has scanning, copying and faxing so it does everything we need. The document feeder holds a lot of pages so it`s super easy to scan a big document, yeah! All around i think it`s a good option for someone that prints a lot, doesn`t want to pay a premium per copy, and doesn`t need color.

I run a small business and average over 1,000 pages a month in prints. Therefore, I need a good laser printer to handle more extensive printing than a person using a printer for personal use. I`ve had the printer for about a week and have printed about 300-400 pages so far. The printer was easy to set up and compatible with my apple and IBM computers. The printer`s speed is above average, though not exceptional. The print quality is excellent and it handles printing thicker card stock paper well. The scanner also works well and does quickly scan multiple pages into one file. Overall, I would recommend this printer for use with a small business.

It came at the perfect time, as it completed my work from home office.Set up was easy with very clear instructions. Simply took it out of the box, plugged it in, went to the website to download the driver and done! Wireless Printer installed and ready to use. I`m not tech savvy so this is a major plus!Printing is seamless. Pages are clear and crisp. Prints multiple pages quickly and quietly, as well as two sided printing. Scans in jpg or pdf, in the top feed or on the screen. Jpg does take a little longer but that`s to be expected.The fax feature hasn`t been used, as it requires a landline, which most homes these days don`t have. Perhaps free online fax information could be included in the instructions.The toner cartridge yields 1200 pages before it needs to be replaced. Replacement cartridges are fairly priced.I would recommend this product if you`re looking for a good 4 in 1.

The instructions were right on and the software package was in one bundle ready to go. The first try printing went smoothly and the print quality was excellent. My two favorite features about this printer are the fact that it has a scanner to send documents quickly and also that the printer is wireless. I can be sitting in one room while my documents are printing out in another. The only drawback about this printer is that it is quite tall. I was planning to set it on my desk, but due to its size I will be keeping it on the floor. I would recommend this printer to others because it works really well and it is user friendly.

This Printer Does It All

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion.Setup: The printer was easy to remove from the box and setup was just plugging it into the wall. I did have some confusion with the printer cartridge. There were no directions and luckily I know to remove the orange plastic on the cartridge prior to putting it into the printer. I was able to easily connect it to my home network by following the prompts on the printer screen.Printing: This printer prints black and white pages fast. There have been no problems with it stalling when I send a print job from my computer to the printer. I like that there is a paper tray at the bottom, that holds at least 100 sheets of paper.Scanning: Scanning is very convenient. I just open the Brother iPrint & Scan app on my computer and choose scan. The printer will scan just one page or multiple pages at once. I do wish it had a two sided scanning option. After scanning, I can easily choose where the file is saved on my computer and what format I would like it to me in.Overall I have enjoyed this printer. It came at a perfect time because I have just started to work from home. It makes my working from home job less stressful and more productive.

The Ultimate Printing Machine
I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. This multi-functional, all-in-one printer is a must have for any professional or home office! I am thoroughly impressed by its speed and quality of print. The WiFi feature is pretty cool and convenient making it easy to print from any room in the house via phone or computer. I was thoroughly impressed to hear the printer responding from a room upstairs while I was in the home office. Mind blown! The product was fairly easy to assemble and is actually pretty light weight for the hosts of features it boasts. One complaint I would have would be that it was slightly difficult for me to type my WiFi network password on the tiny screen. Overall, this printer packs the latest technology and I`m impressed by its functionality and ease of use. This printer was made with convenience in mind for the busy professional. Also, I was made aware that Brother has a "Refresh" program that automatically sends you a new toner cartridge before you run out. I`ve also found the toner to be inexpensive in comparison to other printers. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who prints a lot of contracts or documents for business. Brother did not disappoint.

power house of a printer
I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I`m a "power-printer" in my home office due to working with a lot of financial documents that must be printed on paper. This printer is quick & efficient and so far quite reliable. I primarily use standard letter size paper, but using a larger size is easy to switch to. The double sided feature is better than any printer of this size that I`ve used and much faster (save those trees!. I found it incredibly easy and quick to set up. It took me less than 10 minutes from taking it out of the box to having it ready to print. The packaging protected the printer very well but wasn`t overly burdensome. I had no issues connecting my laptop, phone, and tablet. Especially as I now have to homeschool and print things for my kids, they`ve been able to connect with their various devices as well and eliminated much of the headache that we encountered with other wireless printers. I`m doing much less troubleshooting now. The scanner/copy feature is great, I`ve used it twice and it worked exactly as it`s supposed to. I really like the use interface on the printer itself - simple and easy to ready and understand. I`ve had no problems with it and am very satisfied with this printer.

A Printer for All Occasions
I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. This printer was very easy to install. The only part I had to place in it was the laser cartridge and even that was incredibly simple. I followed the instructions on the Quick Setup Guide without any problems. My computer doesn`t have a CD drive, so I was glad to see that I could easily download the instructions from online instead. The instructions online were easy to follow as well and downloading everything took less than 15 minutes. My computer connected to my wireless printer without any problems. I was able to setup, connect, and print from anywhere in my house within 20 minutes.As an educator, I am often scanning items to send to my students. Instead of venturing to the school, I love being able to scan from home. At first, I tried to scan by going directly to the printer. When I clicked on the scan icon, it stated that it wasn`t connected, so I tried from my computer. I was able to scan my documents without any problems when accessing the feature from my computer but couldn`t quite figure it out when using the printer itself. After troubleshooting the feature, I was able to figure out what I was doing wrong.In comparison to other printers I have used, I can honestly say this one is very accessible and user friendly. I like how it doesn`t take long to connect, and it is small enough to fit on my corner desk with my books and laptop. My favorite feature is the clear display screen on the front of the printer. It is easy to maneuver. If there is anything I need, I can simply click and go. All in all, I have enjoyed using this printer, and I look forward to continue using it for business and personal occasions. I am very impressed.

Super happy with it
I'm a graduate student in the social sciences so I print and read hundreds of pages a week. I had a smaller Brother printer that served me all throughout my undergraduate degree and is still working great and purchased this because I wanted to print more, faster. It's significantly larger than my previous printer, but that's to be expected given that it is a multifunction printer (also scans, etc). For a multifunction, the size is actually quite good.
I haven't had any issues with the printing function, but if your WiFi signal is not great or is spotty, you may run into issues. I initially had this in my upstairs office, far from the router. My computer was right beside it and the internet worked fine, but the printer had some difficulty connecting on occasion, so I moved it to the other side of the room (closer to the router) and have had no issues since.
The scanning function is easy and fast.

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. Overall, I have to say this 4 in 1 printer has really impressed me. It outshines my previous printer by a quite a bit. I didn`t think the difference would be this noticiable but it is.Print quality is excellent. Sharp and clear with no smudging, even when printing on a gloss coated postcard. It also handles heavier weight paper/postcards with ease and no jams. Copy and scan quality are also excellent.Setting up wireless printing was much simpler than setting up my previous printer but the instructions still could be a little more detailed. The wifi function is great. It is nice to be able to put the printer where it is convenient for me instead of having to have right next to my computer. I also love the fact that I can use the scanner function and it will use wifi to send scans directly to my computer. Only function I can`t use is the fax function as it requires a landline so this is more of a 3 in 1, instead of a 4 in 1 for me. Bit this is not a big deal as I don`t have a huge need to fax but if I do I can use the scanner and and a free online fax service if I do.If you are looking for a good 4-1 printer, I would have no hesitations recommending this one.

Great Printer Easy Set Up for Novice

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion.This laser printer is easy to set up and produces great prints! Based on the box, I thought this was going to be WAY too big for our space, but the box is Brothers` way of protecting this great little unit. So the footprint of the actual printer really not big at all. The quick start instructions are clear, and although I got hung up on a couple things as I went along, I figured it out on my own. I`m not always that tech-savvy. I went from opening the box to printing from my phone, to scanning and copying within about an hour or so. The wi-fi set up was the easiest I could`ve imagined. I knew I couldn`t reach my router, and I wanted to send items to print via email, so this worked perfectly. The option to not be wired in is definitely my favorite feature. There are handles on the side of the unit that are genius! It makes me wonder why more things we buy don`t have built-in handles of some sort! So easy to move, even for middle-aged ladies. I`ll be keeping mine in a cabinet in-between uses so that`s a great feature. I love that I don`t have to get help to move it. My son has his own printer in the house, and this one is WAY more quiet and it seems to produce better quality prints in general. It seems like the overall quality on this is better - like it`s more sturdy.It would be nice if this came with some paper samples. Just a few different paper thicknesses or smoothness would be nice to test. Otherwise you will want to make sure you have some on hand.

MFC-L2730DW does NOT duplex scan as advertised
Brother, Please update the feature set on the website to indicate that the MFC-L2730DW does not have duplex scanning ability, or at least add another feature to the specifications list that defines whether the MFC can scan both sides of the page at the same time from the ADF? Duplex scanning sure sounds like that to me.
I spoke to a product specialist on chat and asked why the MFC-L2730DW matches feature for feature when compared on this website side by side using the compare checkboxes, and is less expensive. I was told that the MFC-L2730 does not have an ADF which scans both sides of the page at the same time.
There is no other feature listed that differentiates the two models. Both of them list YES next to DUPLEX SCANNING. This is very misleading Please update the specifications, as I regularly recommend MFC-L27xxDW models to co-workers and family members and research the latest model that brother has in the tier that the MFC-L2750dw currently occupies.
I am glad I did not tell my co-worker to order the 2730dw (even though it is not even listed on any online retailer's websites as even being an out of stock item, just not there at all because the killer feature was the automatic duplex scanning.
With all that said, the reason I recommend the MFC-2750dw or its current replacement mode to so many people (bordering on 10 now over the past few years) is because it is a great product. And the double sided scanning feature is all win in my opinion, especially at the price point.

Sub par performance for business
This printer is just OK. The solids when you copy are far too light and you have to change the setting to its darkest value, or make a shortcut that has that value programmed. There seems no way to change the default setting to a darker copy. I have tried different ways with no success.

REPLACED THE EXACT SAME MODEL
BOUGHT THIS UNIT TO REPLACE THE EXACT SAME MODEL THAT WAS ONLY 14 MONTHS OLD. TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO CLEAN THE ROLLERS ON THE PREVIOUS UNIT BECAUSE SCANS CONTINUALLY WENT THROUGH ON A SLANT, AND EVENTUALLY WENT THROUGH WITH A DARK LINE DOWN THE MIDDLE. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A HUGE PROJECT REQUIRING MULTIPLE LEGAL DOCUMENTS AND NEEDED CLARITY IN ALL DOCUMENTS. ERGO, A HASTILY BOUGHT UNIT. IT WORKS, FOR NOW.....SOME PAPERWORK IS ALREADY GOING THROUGH ON A SLANT. ACT IN HASTE, REPENT AT LEISURE! BROTHER, WOULD YOU CARE TO COMMENT????
