Canon imageFORMULA DR-F120 Office - document scanner - desktop - USB 2.0 is rated 3.50 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a very GOOD choice. Scanner with an Automatic Document Feeder - GREAT! If only it worked... It is actually a Flat-Bed Scanner with a large bulky lid. Seriously, go with a less expensive bare-bones model, the contraption on the top is only good for destroying original documents.

Page manipulations (adding, reordering, deleting, and cropping were The DR-F120 performed up to its mechanical and optical specifications for flatbed, simplex, and duplex scanning. Page manipulations (adding, reordering, deleting, and cropping) were up to my expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a continuous rotation capability in addition to rotation in 90-degree increments. Unfortunately, the DR-F120 fell short in color scanning. About 20% of the photographic prints I test-scanned suffered from general oversaturation or specific red or magenta oversaturation. The color correction capabilities are limited to brightness, contrast, shadows (dichotomous, not continuous), and gamma, but there’s nothing for saturation, hue, highlights, or midtones (saturation and hue being the more critical). I expected to find a sensitivity adjustment for scanning black-and-white documents, but there isn’t one. Pages with light text, particularly pencil, are at risk for being scanned as blank pages. Scanning in grayscale rather than black-and-white overcomes the problem but requires editing each page to achieve black text on a white background in what will be output—or at least dark text on a light gray background. I recommend the DR-F120 for document scanning. For image scanning, anticipate the need to correct saturation or hue issues in a separate image editing program.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic scanner & software Canon dedicated scanners are top-of-the-line. I previously owned the DR-2020U (which I loved for six years. But it was slow when I upgraded to W10, though it was fantastic with W7, W8 & W8.1. (BTW, I gave it to another firm on W8.1, and they are delighted.) I purchased the DR-F120 on this website back in May, and have waited to write a review until I'd done a large volume of scanning. It's not as "hefty" as the DR-2020U, but that's no problem, and the legal-size flatbed is a major plus. I saw elsewhere that some folks were complaining about sides of the page being torn when using the auto paper feed. I have not had that problem. The only way that can happen is if you don't slide the paper guides to butt up with the document you're scanning. Its scan speed is as advertised, and quality of scans is perfect. I especially like the user-friendly CaptureOnTouch software it's bundled with (an upgrade from the version with the DR-2020U). Once you've set up your preferences, then after scanning, you can quickly: move/delete a page; change a page's brightness, contrast, alignment, orientation. It's faster and easier than any of the expensive scanning software I've used in years past. I've had no issues whatsoever, and do a high volume of scanning. I highly recommend this scanner for anyone who scans professionally.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding scanner I purchased the DR-F120 in 2015 and since then have scanned tens of thousands of documents and photos. It has worked flawlessly most of the time. Over the last few months I have been scanning receipts, catalogs, and photos for a home inventory. The receipts have ranged from cash register tapes to very old and hard to read onion skins. Any time I was able to separate pages, I used the ADF. Catalogs and such went on the flat bed. I found that as long as I removed stapled receipts and straightened the dog ears, documents went through the ADF with flying colors. The ability to name each file and direct it to a folder, printer, or email has greatly simplified my tasks. As one other review observed, this scanner is not designed for photo copying, however having said that, I have copied thousands of photos successfully. I did many using the ADF, though again, the ADF does a 180 with the photos, which is not the best thing to do to your photo of grandma and grandpa. The ADF did get a bit "squirrely" after a 1,000 or so photos and did not want to feed. I cleaned the rollers as best I could and have done all my photo copying since then on the flat bed. Recently, I had an issue with a shortcut button that did not want to scan. I re-installed the Capture OnTouch software and the problem seems to have resolved. In summary this is a robust document scanner that should serve well for many years.
