Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst Lenovo Product Ever I not only regret buying this product, this product has made me regret buying my Lenovo P53. Simply put, it doesn't work, and it costs way too much money to work as poorly as it does. Fix after fix has come through and none of them address the issues fully. I bought two of these docks to use for my home and office set ups (with a single laptop that goes between them), so I feel especially mad about it. I use it with two Lenovo monitors, a Lenovo P53, and a Lenovo external HD camera for teleconferencing. I bought quality usb cables in the hopes of addressing it. I'm just all the way over it. The monitors go off several times a day, worsening as the day goes on. I constantly have to unplug the monitors from the dock, turn off the dock, then reattach everything. Sometimes the error is just lines and static that look like a monitor was destroyed. This can happen even if I'm not using the machine, like if I let the computer sleep over night. I have no pets. No one enters the room. Just sitting there, asleep, can break the connection. The monitors shutting off hides the material that was on them. They remain on some screen in the ether. This is especially a problem when I'm in a teleconferencing meeting because it can really break my flow, especially if I'm the speaker and using that screen to do my presentation. This is on top of the issue with the USB connected HD Lenovo camera. I tried connecting it to the dock, and it creates streaks and related visual errors when it is connected to the docking station. When it's connected to the laptop's usb cable, however, the stream works fine. That's not what I paid hundreds of dollars for! It is so rare for me to write a negative review for things, but after 100s to 1000s of interruptions to my work flow, I've just had it. In the past, there have also been issues with detecting the power source. It's just an all around fail for me with a two-monitor set up. This is an anti-productivity device. It really makes me regret upgrading from my old Lenovo that I had because the docking station for that (not compatible with this) had next to no issues. The worst part is that these issues are known! But they're allowed to continue. That's bad business.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Docking Station This was purchased mainly to allow an X1 Yoga to connect to a pair of 27” 4K displays. Utilizing the DisplayPort connectors they work flawlessly when connected to the laptop with Thunderbolt 3. It’s really amazing that it can automatically detect the laptop when plugged in and really consolidates the amount of cables needed. What was a little weird was that display 1 is plugged into port 2 and display 2 is plugged into port 1- otherwise I cannot achieve 4K on one of the monitors when plugged the other way. Also it charges the laptop at 65W. I also purchased the underdesk mount for it so everything is truly out of the way! Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be aware: Only 90W of Charging Power The dock works well as long as you only require 90W of power for your laptop. Despite having 135W in the name, the dock is only capable of delivery 90W of power. You can find this in the Tech Specs section of the product page. However, for some reason, Lenovo service and their SmartFind site are recommending this dock for notebooks that have higher power demands (e.g. Think Book X1 Extreme). If you use this dock and it seems to 'randomly' turn itself off and on (and any screens connected), the laptop is exceeding the capacity of the dock and it is shutting off. You may also notice the 'Slow Charging' notification from Windows. Long story short, if you have Laptop that requires more than 90W, get the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock Gen 2, not this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost perfect... Well designed dock that allows for a clean workstation and a single thunderbolt connection to my T14s or Macbook air. Outputs to 4k which allows me to connect 3840x2160 display and plenty of USB A ports. If there is any room for improvement it would be to have more usb C or thunderbolt ports for connectivity. If you want to connect your monitor via USB C then you must use the port in the front of the dock (assuming you use the thunderbolt port in the rear for your laptop per the instructions then you have your display cable from the front of your dock running the back of the monitor which is not the cleanest look. Otherwise, it's a great piece of hardware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Webcam Issues My webcam does not work (it flashes when plugged into the thunderbolt. I researched the issue and it looks like this has been a known problem since 2020. The only solution is to plug it directly into the computer, which sort of defeats the whole purpose of the docking station.

Even though I tried to install all newest driver, but it still didn’t works. Before order, I asked if this Dock works for my laptop at Technical Sales Assistant by online chat. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Higher Data Xfer over Lenovo ProDoc worth purchase It works well with a ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Gen! Purchased for increased data transfer rate because USB scanner usually became non-responsive to 10MB/s USB-C ProDoc and mouse pointer hung on screen. Thunderbolt 3 Gen 2 xfer rate is 40MB/s, fixed these problems, although I still keep my wired mouse connected to a computer USB port rather than the TB3 dock. Initial problem with glitching of audio and video were fixed with a X1 carbon BIOS update provided by Lenovo. Dock firmware check was a problem because Lenovo provided video drivers did not match latest from Intel, so ran the Intel update utility to update drivers then firmware check went through all right. Otherwise, like I already mentioned, the TB3 Gen 2 works quite all right, not problems. If Lenovo chooses, it would be nice if an external USB keyboard connection was provided to help the dock scan the USB input a little faster or on an interrupt priority basis - I find I have to wait for maybe 30-sec. or so after the X1 has booted and dock is on-line before I can type an OPSYS login. Solid product, no real problems.

MacBook screen keeps flashing as if displays are being detected and removed. The dock is being sold as “universal” in the specs. Internet search suggests upgrading the firmware. But firmware can only be upgraded from a laptop with Windows and a thunderbolt port. If you bought it for MacBook you are out of luck

I ordered the first dock station which worked fine for a few days and then stopped connecting to my Lenovo screen (HDMI). I spent pretty much a full day chatting and talking with Lenovo support and at the end they said the item should be replaced. I waited 3 weeks for the replacement and this time, even worse! the replacement item was not working at all! I have a Lenovo laptop, a Lenovo screen, and even Lenovo wireless and there is no compatibility concerns

The problem comes when you buy it and you are supposed to have it all ready to charge your laptop when this never occurs. In the end, the product does everything that it says but to do it you need to invest a third more of the money in another product to add to this one.

This is the second docking station from Lenovo I have tried to work with my new Lenovo computer that was labeled on their website as "compatible". It randomly turns off and on. This is exceedingly annoying. A key pressed in when it turns off stays pressed in. A mouse clicked when it turns off stays clicked. This creates havoc with whatever you were doing when the docking station turns off. So I went to Lenovo help lines and updated firmware and drivers. Now when the docking station turns off my lovely new computer gets the blue screen of death and restarts - losing all unsaved work. It's really frustrating to have a new computer and be unable to find a docking station from the same company that works well. I will be looking for a docking station elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It will definitely power your high end Lenovo, but I bought this after purchasing my Lenovo Extreme Gen 3, as my older dock wouldn't power it and it does almost everything I ask of it. However, no matter what I do, it won't power my Thinkpad 480s through the thunderbolt cable, and periodically while I'm working, one of my two screens will turn off for a couple seconds before coming back on. I have a smaller Lenovo dock at work for my T480 which is flawless, so maybe I just have a bad unit.

There was lots of confusion with what model is needed this 135W or the 230W for my P15 the AN00135 or the ANY0230. The AN00135 works great -- have 3 Displays -- two off P15 ( built-in and DP and another off the AN00135.

It was a simple plug everything in and turn it on. The only problem I am having is the plug in the back of the dock for the Thunderbolt cable is loose and if you touch the cable you lose power briefly and the external monitors blink off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did not work No matter how we set it up, we could not get it to consistently run two HD monitors -- one or both would flicker or go dark intermittently. We tried adjusting cables, power connections, placement on the desk/cord containment -- it just didn't work. In addition, the mouse/keyboard always lagged, and the USB external camera would flicker. We moved back to an old $90 dock that just takes one monitor and USB devices, and with one monitor plugged in directly and one through the old dock, and both monitors connected perfectly and no lag on the USB devices. We've had varying degrees of success with other Lenovo products lately (used to have great, consistent success) -- but this is final straw for us as a company. We are tired of wasting $$$ on devices that require hours of troubleshooting and an eventual call to tech support to work (who take us through the same troubleshooting tasks we've already tried!).

Customer support chat said it would work properly with my Thinkpad P15 (saved the message thread because I thought this would happen). It doesn't turn on/off the workstation and doesn't charge the laptop. Very disappointing - subsequent chat followups were not helpful. A better understanding of docking compatibility is needed by customer support and a page for buyers to review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An essential dock to work with 2 external monitors For my work, I use 2 external monitors: 1920x1200 & 2560x1440. I first tried with a Lenovo USB-C dock, which made one of the monitors to revert to default VGA resolution (1024x768), instead of the max resolution it can support. Lenovo's documentation suggests that USB-C dock should support 2 external monitors of 4K resolution but apparently it doesn't. After struggling with their phone customer care support, I gave up, returned it and ordered the TBT3 dock. Though the first TBT3 dock was defective, the replacement dock works fine. But, one this is sure - the customer support is pretty hard to navigate.

I need a second dock for my new office. The Workstation Dock was not available so I purchased the Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen 2. This dock (after set has performed perfectly. I have dual 4k monitors at both home and office including scanners, printers and Bluetooth keyboards and mice at both locations. I can seamlessly dock my ThinkPad P1 to each location without further set up and access, just plug the ThinkPad P1 in and everything connects and works properly. Great job Lenova

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed in number of monitors it supports. Dock comes with 2 DP, and 2 HDMI. But it won't support more than 3 monitors, even with the laptop display disabled. And I need to run 4 for work. Otherwise, it is a good dock. Thought I had a bad HDMI port, and support promptly shipped a new one out. Too bad they didn't ask how many monitors I was trying to run. Could have saved a lot of time, and costs.

Lenovo acts as though comments like these are just made up. There will be a reply beneath this review apologizing for the inconvenience and poor experience with a customer service number to call. Unfortunately, there is no solution and htey are unable to help. Token attempt at best. For those wondering, I have the X1 Carbon.

All I wanted was to simply plug my laptop into a docking station at my office and use an external monitor, mouse and keyboard. This product will NOT do that. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Other times nothing works so you have to uninstall the software just to use your computer. After countless hours troubleshooting I read reviews and it appears this product doesn't work for anyone. Why its still sold is beyond me? Unless I am missing something, I strongly suggest you DO NOT PURCHASE

I tried using the dock with a Legion Y740, without dock power, still used the Legion Y740 power supply. However, I would experience unstable/corrupted video on extended displays. Why would a company purposely cripple a dock to a particular line, if only to require you to buy another dock when you get another laptop! My solution? I am using a DELL USB-C thunderbolt dock with ZERO issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice docking solution in "unusual" spaces. I had been using a standard old style dock. When I saw this option, I had to have it. I sit at a corner desk and this suits the space much better. Grab 1 connector and you're done (after initial setup). I am very pleased with the compact size and ease of use. Don't get me wrong, I have the hard dock as well and with the slide switch on the side and the pins accurately locating the dock to laptop underneath, it is much easier to use than the old days. I have both and I could see either one being a benefit. For me, this one is quickest.

Have to use a second power adapter to charge the laptop, simultaneously. This workaround is fine, but I'm very surprised and disappointed that Lenovo would let this issue exist. FYI, I've been a Lenovo customer since Aug 2008...without any issues until now.

Also saw some intermittent Ethernet connectivity issues. However, over the last few weeks there had been a number of automatic firmware updates that occurred and those problems appear to have largely disappeared. The flexibility and speed of this dock is not matched right now, it operates flawlessly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the dock you need, hands down Small and in-obtrusive, this little powerhouse packs a huge assortment of connections allowing me to connect two hdmi monitors, a scanner, an audio controller, a midi keyboard and my phone while leaving extra usb slots for whatever I throw at it. Startup was a cinch, had both monitors going in less than five minutes. So glad I went with a ThinkPad laptop and the dock rather than a desktop. Couldn't be more pleased.

I have to use the laptop USB port for my webcam since it flickers when plugged into the dock. When it works, it works well but it took a few days to get the settings right. I expected more given the brand and the price.

It is a bit confusing to set up (multiple fitting sockets for the power cable, multiple ports for data connectivity but in both caes only one will work). Running 4k screens with this dock is not possible (or I didn't manage to figure it out yet) despite the specifications saying differently. So I recommend going for a different dock.

While it is a little heavy to be carried everyday and can be pricey when not on sale, it works really well at connecting all the peripherals. This is actually my 3rd "docking station" that i purchased through Lenovo. I use the mini station for travel and leave this one hooked up at home. Highly recommend it.

I use this dock every day and I value to ability to connect keyboards, monitors, etc. HOWEVER, the USB-C connection from the dock to the laptop is EXCEPTIONALLY unreliable and feels very loose. If i accidentally bump the dock, my laptop loses connection to my VPN, monitors--everything. It seems to reconnect quickly, but I generally have to restart my laptop for the ethernet connection to re-establish. As long as I literally don't touch the dock or the USB-C cable at the end connected to the dock it works wonderfully. NOTE: My wife has the same model dock with her laptop and experiences the same problem, so I believe this is a fundamental design problem with the USB-C connector on the dock rather than a one-off defect in my unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most usb/display ports but not best w C940 (81TE) I would have given 5 stars but this doesn't work with my specific model and Lenovo says it does on the compatibility list. It has plenty of usb a, c and display ports. More than others I looked at and I looked a lot. I bought this to use with the C940(81TE) 15". It will act as a doc for the model above, but it will not charge due to the fact that the C940 (81TE) will only charge through the slim tip port. The USB c port doesn't appear to work for power in. I tried using the Y cable (Part number: 4X90U90620) and the split cable (Part number: 4X90U90616) that come with the 40ANY230US (230W) and the 135W charger that comes with this unit. It did not provide enough power to both ports (slim tip and usb c) to start the charger. So no love there. This dock (40AN0135US) uses the same brick unit that comes with the 230W version, just different cables. The 135W version here should work with any usb c laptop that supports Thunderbolt 3 and uses the Thunderbolt port to charge, which is pretty much anyone other than the C940. I digress but stay with me here. I was able to get the charger to work when I connected both the power adapter that came with the computer (135W) and the one that comes with this unit (135W) with the split cable (x616) that comes with the 230W model. Problem solved, unless you want to go mobile. You still need another power adapter. In my case, the AC power is behind my desk so it isn't practical to unplug one adapter every time I hit the road. So for me to make this work I needed to buy another power adapter. Between the cost of the additional power adapter and the split cable (x616), I was over the cost of the 40ANY230US. If you have easy access to the AC outlet, you might decide to by the split cable (x616) and disconnect one adapter to save a few bucks. I returned this one and bought the 230W version (much less on Amazon) which works with the C940 and you don't need extra accessories. The split cable (x616) is a bit short though (26.38 inches) due to the location of the ports on both units, right side of the doc and left side of the laptop. There is another one that is 1.5M (Part number: 4X90U90621) which I will get with the rewards from buying the computer.

It is unclear to me if this docking station can be expected to be a power source as well as a hub of connectors. I've been unsuccessful so far at getting it to be the sole power source, and still need the power connector hooked up. This was a recommended device (supposedly) for my laptop on the sales page - however I do not see my model of laptop as a supported device on the documentation.

Everything has been seamless, it handles the dual monitor setup, wireless mouse and keyboard and other peripherals with ease. It has been responsive and has just worked, so I would definitely recommend. My only complaint is I wish the USB to USB c cable that came with it was longer. Because using the provided cable pretty much requires you to have the laptop pretty close to the dock which can be annoyibg depending on your setup. But you can always get a longer cable.

It has lots of ports both HDMI and Display Port, plenty of traditional USB ports and USB-C ports. The only downside is it will not charge the 15" C940 even though it is the recommended dock. You will have to plug in the dock for all the peripherals and then still plug the laptop into ac power. Pretty disappointing.

Great to connect ThinkPad Carbon X1 6th gen to a large screen display and charge other accessories at the same time without having to disconnect/reconnect. small footprint and all the features needed to complete your workstation I am especially happy with twin HDMI ports and twin display ports. Can have up to 4 monitors running off this on box. Currently running 2-24 inch monitors. I have all but the 2 display ports in use on this dock. Reason for 4 stars is every once in a while, when I re-dock I get a message saying the dock cannot supply enough power to power the laptop.

That, in my opinion is unacceptable. The point of the dock is to be able to disconnect quickly and take the laptop with you right away. Now I need to reconfigure my office to add another power strip so I don't have to crawl under my desk to disconnect the dock and take a charger with me. At least they give you the second one with the dock. Most other docks come with a high wattage power cable so you don't have to connect 2 of them.

The issue with it doing this is that I lose all of my monitors, my keyboard, mouse, and other accessories over and over until I restart my laptop. Oh and restarting my laptop does not fix it, it only helps it not happen repeatedly for a little bit. This product is easily a 5-star product, but this one issue makes it worthless. DO NOT BUY. Go buy anything else. Even those older brick docks that you have to physically place your laptop in are better than this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted I bought this early in 2020, and it has been solid for me the entire time! I bought it after I got my ThinkPad X1 Carbon in Nov 2019 for my personal laptop, but I also wanted something that would work well with my work issued HP Elitebook. This fit the bill. Now it primarily is used with my HP during the work day in a 3 screen setup (2 external monitors + my laptop screen), and my ThinkPad other times when I need a bigger screen. It charges my USB-C phone quickly through the front USB-C port (not sure on the output wattage), and also allows my ThinkPad to be hardwired via ethernet when docked.

Design is fair - for instance I would have had the cable connecting to the laptop in the front as opposed to the back for ease. Otherwise it does its job. A bit pricey but so are all the docks from vendors these days as they offer these alternatives. Another design issue is it is fairly large for what it does, believe Microsoft has a better form factor for their book 2 dock.

My experience has been several do not work; either nothing or when I plug something in, it makes my screen jump, or today it was my camera that jumped and kept flashing things that resemble lighting bolts. I am able to connect my 2 screens using HDMI and Displayport, as well as connect my mouse, keyboard, microphone and personal USB on the Dock. Then I simply plug in the 1 USB-C to my laptop, and all devices connect automatically including charging the laptop. The only advise I give is to make sure that you power reset if your devices/screens do not work. At first I though the dock was not compatible, but I had to power reset the dock. This means not just unplugging the power from the Dock, but also unplugging from the wall socket. This last step is important, and was not mentioned in the instructions, which is why I am giving it 4 stars. Took me some time to figure this out and look it up online. Other than that, this device works great!

Lenovo issued a firmware update version 1.07. I can now leave everything connected and use the power button on the dock. Good job on the fix.

I tested the Dock connected to my laptop and all works fine too as far as powering the laptop via the dock, or adding USB connections (such as mouse and keyboards); Only issue is connecting an external monitor to the dock It looks like no signal is received by the monitor in either HDMI or DP connection

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most usb/display ports but not best w C940 (81TE) I would have given 5 stars but this doesn't work with my specific model and Lenovo says it does on the compatibility list. It has plenty of usb a, c and display ports. More than others I looked at and I looked a lot. I bought this to use with the C940(81TE 15". It will act as a doc for the model above, but it will not charge due to the fact that the C940 (81TE) will only charge through the slim tip port. The USB c port doesn't appear to work for power in. I tried using the Y cable (Part number: 4X90U90620) and the split cable (Part number: 4X90U90616) that come with the 40ANY230US (230W) and the 135W charger that comes with this unit. It did not provide enough power to both ports (slim tip and usb c) to start the charger. So no love there. This dock (40AN0135US) uses the same brick unit that comes with the 230W version, just different cables. The 135W version here should work with any usb c laptop that supports Thunderbolt 3 and uses the Thunderbolt port to charge, which is pretty much anyone other than the C940. I digress but stay with me here. I was able to get the charger to work when I connected both the power adapter that came with the computer (135W) and the one that comes with this unit (135W) with the split cable (x616) that comes with the 230W model. Problem solved, unless you want to go mobile. You still need another power adapter. In my case, the AC power is behind my desk so it isn't practical to unplug one adapter every time I hit the road. So for me to make this work I needed to buy another power adapter. Between the cost of the additional power adapter and the split cable (x616), I was over the cost of the 40ANY230US. If you have easy access to the AC outlet, you might decide to by the split cable (x616) and disconnect one adapter to save a few bucks. I returned this one and bought the 230W version (much less on Amazon) which works with the C940 and you don't need extra accessories. The split cable (x616) is a bit short though (26.38 inches) due to the location of the ports on both units, right side of the doc and left side of the laptop. There is another one that is 1.5M (Part number: 4X90U90621) which I will get with the rewards from buying the computer.

I can not believe hiw versatile and easy these were to set up. The dual displayport and HDMI connections made it so easy to find an appropriate cable in a time when Amazon was only shipping essential goods. If you are looking for a convenient and reliable work from home docking station this is it!!! Plus the build quality feels solid, unlike some of the cheap plastic ones you will find online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do not buy! Despite reading a few negative reviews I decided to purchase this dock. A few months into owning, the HDMI ports will not output signal. Some of the reviews I read also said they had issues with this. Contacted support and they refuse to help since I had non-Lenovo monitors connected to the dock. According to their customer support rep, the moment you connect any non-Lenovo device to their products, the warranty is void. So if you connect a Logitech mouse to your thinkpad, they might not honor the warranty. Might be time to avoid Lenovo all together.

This is only because the power socket on the specified laptop is a proprietary design, not the standard USB C thunderbolt socket. The Thunderbolt socket on the laptop still works perfectly for docking, and I can easily disconnect the dock while leaving the laptop plugged into power, useful when I want to attach my work computer (which is also compatible with the docking station) to the docking station for monitor, etc while still having incidental access to my personal computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A real disappointment Every time you connect and disconnect you have to pray... Sometimes the functionality is not even guaranteed after starting from power-saving mode. Screens flicker. Sometimes monitor 1 is working, then only monitor 2. They happily toggle back and forth - and if you're lucky, after a bit both are working. Ethernet and USB ports also fail from time to time. Often I have to disconnect and connect again, until this thing works - No-Go for a docking station! In addition, it did not get along with a KVM switch, which still worked perfectly with a different laptop / docking station but the same monitor setting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really problematic I purchased this dock after using Toshiba Dynadock for 10 years hoping that it would perform better with my new Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga. Well, it does NOT! It causes the audio service of the laptop crashes after switching applications with sound. For example, if I want to star using Zoom after watching YouTube or using Skype, Zoom audio does not work. Windows audio troubleshooting tries to fix it for minutes but can not. the only solution is rebooting the computer. Worse, the power supplied by it is not enough for the laptop. I thought my computer is getting enough power since it is plugged into it, yet. I got low battery in the middle of a video call and disconnected shortly after. As you could imagine using the thunderbolt for both power and data prevented switching to another power source while still using the peripherals like camera and monitors that are connected to the dock. Big disappointment! I should have stuck with the DynaDock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not fully compatible with X1 Extreme Gen 2 This dock was recommend by the support when I called in with questions about my X1 Extreme Gen 2. The dock seems great, but there are some issues with the X1 Extreme using it. External monitors and devices don't stay attached. They flash on and off. I did some digging on the Lenovo support site and found some firmware updates and windows driver updates. After applying those, things are about 95% stable. Also, this version of the dock didn't come with adequate power for the X1 Extreme. The dock has a 135 watt power supply, but the USB-C connection only supports up to 100 watt, so the X1 Extreme slow depletes power while it's running. There are cables you can purchase, which I have, but they have not come in yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from does not work well with Yoga C940 i was told by Lenovo personnel over the phone that this is the proper docking station for the Yoga C940 14 laptop. It did not work properly and they sent me a second one, which also does not work properly. The docking station either is not the proper one for the Yoga or it is a flawed design. By trial and error, i have gotten it to project the laptop image onto the screen and for the laptop screen to turn off when that happens, but i must keep the laptop open in order for the image to go onto the monitor. Also, the docking station itself never turns off. the start button does not function in any manner i have found. finally, in order to make the monitor to receive the image, you must disconnect the Thunderbolt from the laptop and then plug it back in each time you turn on the laptop (again, the docking station just stays on, so pushing that button serves no purpose.

I am powering the laptop with the supplied power pack of 170W (The dock is unable to supply enough power via the Thunderbolt 3 connection, which only supplies 65W). The dock is feeding two 4k displays via DP. Here is the problem: With everything connected as previously described, the P1 will hang during startup if you press power either on the dock or the laptop. The only way to successfully boot, is to unplug the Thunderbolt 3 connection, power up the laptop, then plug the Thunderbolt 3 cable back in....each...and...every...time! Tech support was useless, depot only, which means they sent me another to try, same issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thurderbolt has an engineering issue with HDMI I have a P15 and purchased the thunderbolt 3/Gen 2 so I could use dual hdmi displays. There is an engineering issue with the docking station. The displays go blank for no reason. Support has replaced it, firmware/drives are current. Same problem. If you plug the exact same device/cable directly into the P15 HDMI port, it works fine. Reviewing the Lenovo community has shown that this is an ongoing problem. I have to ctrl/clt/del, switch user, select the same user, log back in, and the HDMI signal gets resent and it works for a while. This is very frustrating. Support has not developed a solution.

It makes it so convenient to plug everything into it and when I take my laptop on the go, I just have to remove one cable. I love that it will start my laptop up and I don't actually have to open the lid to press the power button or hunt around on the side to find the button. I have had no problems with disconnects from anything that is plug into it.

Ensure you plug it into the Thunderbolt 3 port instead of the power port! I'm not an advanced user, and I still haven't figured out why USBs ports mean different things (some won't work for my wireless keyboard/mouse but I eventually got everything working after a guess and check. Just make sure to follow the instructions perfectly and everything should work great!

I wanted the package that had both 135w and 170w power supplied, but the web site makes it impossible to find and distinguish between these! So be careful what you order. This product only has one 135w power supply and a small connector to the laptop (not the larger power and data connector).

I do wish it came with a longer cable so I could hide it away under my desk instead of being right next to where my laptop sits, but that is the only downside. Even my old t460p with ultra dock sorted out. 4 years later and lenovo's newest products can't run 4k?! Very inefficient. A 65w laptop requires 135w to the dock and it gets very hot. Also, insanely expensive for a couple usb ports. Just get a usb hub.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TERRIBLE For Video Conferencing I bought this for video conferencing, video training, presentations and Streaming Live with 3 Lenovo Monitors (1) ThinkVision X1 (2nd Gen) 4K Monitor in the center and (2) ThinkVision T24v-10 FHD VOIP Monitors on either side (left/right). The workstation dock says it supports (3) 4K Monitors. I purchased the Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen 2 to connect everything to my new X1 Extreme 2nd Gen Laptop (ThinkPad). My business has suffered for the last 6 weeks since I have not been able to video conference, or do any live video recording for training, presenting or Streaming Live since all video broadcasting flickers terribly. I have worked with support on the issue updating all firmware and driver updates for everything, they have remotely logged into my system and have seen the terrible flicker. Support even sent another workstation which also exhibits the same problem. Premier Support has now also stopped responding to emails replying back about the problem. Calls to Premier Support today are dropped with messages of technical difficulties and their eTicket system fails over and over with Processing Errors failing to log a ticket. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!

It doesn't even go through post, and I receive no warnings. I have updated to the latest drivers/firmware, and it is still not resolved.

Windows audio troubleshooting tries to fix it for minutes but can not. the only solution is rebooting the computer. Worse, the power supplied by it is not enough for the laptop. I thought my computer is getting enough power since it is plugged into it, yet. I got low battery in the middle of a video call and disconnected shortly after. As you could imagine using the thunderbolt for both power and data prevented switching to another power source while still using the peripherals like camera and monitors that are connected to the dock. Big disappointment! I should have stuck with the DynaDock.

Also, seems to occasionally cause flicker or other weird issues with my external monitors that didn't exist with a previous computer/dock setup.

Have 3 Thinkpads with USB C connections, this system makes it super easy to switch between machines. Going to set these up with all out staff to make easy stations for workers to connect when sitting at a station.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why is an 135W power supply not properly grounded? For some inexplicable reason this dock comes with a power supply that is 2-pronged and not grounded. At 135W that really shouldn't be the case, and it's hugely annoying if you have a metal keyboard and get little shocks from static electricity because the dock doesn't have a grounding path.

The unit would not power the X1 Yoga Gen 2 and I had to use the travel power cord. Completed bios and driver updates as well as extensive testing. Tech support was absolutely NO help what so ever. The only thing they repeatedly asked was for me to send in my PC, which has repeatedly passed all testing they've recommended. Suggest you find another brand of PC that actually provides tech support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ThunderBust Pseudo Dock (Thunderbolt 3 Gen 2) The display specs are very weak on this dock. I purchased it with the idea it would future proof adding 4K displays. I have now added 4K and it is terrible. Unfortunately rather than being dual Displayport 1.4 @ 60hz, it is NOT. Will need to replace this with a more functional solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product but buggy The thunderbolt is a god send after plugging in all my monitors, etc. for most of last year. Its pricey for the product and a little buggy. Be prepared to have to update all the drivers for it and to have to do the same for your computer. It is also surprisingly specific as to where you have to plug everything in for it to work properly and every now and then I have to wait for my computer to turn on before connecting it, otherwise it's not recognized. I don't pretend to be the best at computers so despite the few problems I experience, I highly suggest it as a way to simplify your life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buyer beware!!! Purchased this in January and 3 weeks later there is extreme latency on a dual monitor setup. Then the monitor kept crashing after driver and firmware update. Lenovo's only solution was to send it in for repair. It has been there for a week and I have received no update. Hopefully this is resolved soon. Buyers beware if you want to push dual 4k monitors

The darn thing keeps shutting off like it's on some form of timeout schedule...which I can't seem to find. All other settings on my laptop have been set to Sleep - Never. IT did a firmware update; but it still turns off my monitors randomly throughout the day.
