Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flattens battery Got round to using this device only to find that it doesn't charge the battery, went down to 7% in an hour. You have to use the dock charger otherwise it doesn't charge the laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from USB issue with docking station The docking station works well, however I do have an occasional problem with a usb extender that is powered but connected devices (keyboard, mouse stop working after a laptop sleep period. Disconnecting the power and reconnecting the docking station resolves the issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo Thinkpad Thunderbolt Dock Bought in Dec 2017. Appears to work functionally well with one exception. White power status light on the dock does not function properly on a consistent basis. Sometimes comes on when power button is pushed, sometimes does not. Amber light when power first switched on is also inconsistent in how it functions. Power status light can be totally dark (unlit) and dock and attached laptop are powered on and appear to function normally. Very disconcerting in that if I don't glance at the laptop status light to double check status, I will sometimes push dock power button again thinking it is not on. This can cause premature shutdown of the laptop. In my opinion quite unsatisfactory, especially in light of the cost of the dock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it promises; needs refinement I'm using this with a new T480. It does everything it promises, but I had to struggle to get to the point where I could say that. Initially only DisplayPort worked, not Ethernet or USB. I figured out I had to right-click on the Thunderbolt icon in the system tray and explicitly approve connection of other devices. I was never prompted to do this: bad interface design. I shouldn't have had to struggle and many users would never have figured it out. Also, I naturally plugged the Thunderbolt cable into the port on the front of the dock, and then wondered why it wasn't charging my computer. Turns out you have to plug it into the back for charging, which is especially awkward given how short the cable is. I feel OK about this purchase only because I got it on sale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased Very satisfied customer. I bought this to connect three external monitors to my laptop and it worked exactly like it should. I like that it charges the device and I don’t have to constantly be unplugging and plugging in devices to my laptop. Great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy an extra cable!! The Thunderbolt Dock is exactly what you need to get your additional monitors working with the X1 Carbon; however, the cable that comes with it is WAY too short. Lenovo needs to include at least a 6' cable with this instead of a 1' cable (3m).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! I am using this dock with a ThinkPad T480. I have my dock hooked up to dual 1080p monitors @ 75hz and a USB high dpi mouse. Occasionally I also connect a cooling pad, flash drives, Ethernet, etc. It has been pretty rock solid 95% of the time. The monitors do not flicker or lose signal and work as they should. When I connect my T480, it knows to automatically switch to 100% scaling rather than the 150% scaling I have on my WQHD laptop display. I normally don't use the laptop screen at the same time, but it is possible to have all 3 displays going on the same time without problems. The only issue I have encountered so far is that there were 2 or 3 times where I woke the computer from sleep, and the USB ports would not be active, while the monitors were working. I was able to fix this by simply unplugging the TB3 cable from the laptop and replugging it in. This rarely happens. Another issue is the TB3 cable is too short. This is undoubtedly because you lose signal when the TB3 cable is too long. Lenovo should have included an active TB3 cable so that they can make it longer. There are some active cables you can buy online, but I haven't bothered to see if they would work properly with my setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful but no support 4K@60hz with X1 Tablet Gen3 Compact and useful to expand interfaces to Tablets. I am using ThinkPad X1 Tablet gen3 so this is available only for USB-C (TB3 ports. This dock bring to multi display(2DP & HDMI), USB-A ports and GBE. However, this dock is not support 4K@60hz when use with ThinkPad X1 Tablet gen3....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great - For a little while The ThunderBolt dock worked great for about a month with my ThinkPad X1 Yoga (2nd Gen), providing a convenient one cable solution for my home office setup with dual 27" monitors. Unfortunately, after the latest firmware and Windows 10 update (Fall Creators Update) it stopped working. I don't know whether it was the firmware or Windows update that caused the problem. The laptop can no longer connect to the dock and the only thing that still works is the power button on the dock. Other folks have posted the same issue on the Lenovo support forum, so I'm not the only one having that problem. Lenovo support has apparently not been able to fix the problem. For now, the dock is just an expensive paper weight. I still have some hope that Lenovo can figure out the cause of the problem and address it. We'll see...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meh Seems really expensive for a dock - nice finish but otherwise seems like it should be more like the cheaper dongle hubs. Kind of big.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power to work and play! Best ThinkPad Thunderbold Dock EVER Released. It's simple plug and play with the USB C is AMAZING! This has totally changed the way I work. I have used a number of ThinkPad Docking Systems, none like this! Kudos to the team at Lenovo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Purchase I've been using the Thunderbolt dock for two months and it is perfect for home or business use. The dock has all the ports I need (HDMI for larger monitor, USB for a large keyboard, mouse and printer - I bought a USB hub because I ran out of USB ports on the dock - jack for speakers and an ethernet port. Best of all it connects with my ThinkPad with one USB SS cable! I would highly recommend the Thunderbolt dock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't not work with brand new Lenovo laptop I bought this to use with my new X1 Carbon 6th gen. The dock does not recognize my mouse, keyboard, or ethernet. I spent 2 hours updating drivers and running system upgrade software on the Lenovo site, following Lenovo instructions, and the dock still doesn't work! It is shocking to me that a brand new modern laptop from Lenovo would not work with the Lenovo dock--a dock which was recommended by a Lenovo sales rep--and waste my time and anger me in the process. I am returning this unit for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nevermore I've now had two of these. The first only worked as a power supply for my X1 Carbon 6th gen laptop. The second worked for 3 weeks. Then the monitors started blinking that were attached. I could hook the monitors straight into the laptop and they worked fine. Then the ethernet started going out and I had to use wifi even while on the dock. Called Lenovo just after a month and they wouldn't help as I was not in front of my dock due to travelling for work. I had all the dock information though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flimsy and overpriced For a product that costs over 200 dollars, it feels flimsy. The thunderbolt doesn't charge the computer completely. Worst of all, the dock constantly drops the connection to the monitor. It's brief but annoying. Another annoying feature is that the computer goes to sleep instantly when I close the laptop cover, so I can't sign in with my laptop fingerprint reader. I'm very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Real Issues with Disabled Ports I'm running a brand-new Lenovo Carbon X-1 with this Thunderbolt dock. The devices are beautiful, but I'm having all kinds of misery trying to get the T-Dock's USB port to recognize a flash drive. It just won't do it. The flash drive just sits in the port like a lump of coal ... and does nothing. No flickering Light of Recognition. No extra drive popping up in Win Explorer. Nothing. And, yes, I did check the support threads on this issue. Yes, the T-Dock software and firmware are installed. No, it didn't make a difference. It's a shame, too, because the dock looks like a really cool device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from USB Ports do not work with peripheral devices. I purchased this with my new computer. It worked for 2 weeks and then the USB ports stopped working. I tried to communicate with Lenovo customer service, (calling it customer service is an insult to customer service) and could not get a human on the phone. I submitted 2 service requests online. Received a new keyboard the first time. Not sure what that was all about. Received a new dock the second time. Great except I am having the exact same issue. It would be great if I could get a human to walk me through set up or something. It is very possible I am doing something wrong but I guess we will never know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Didn't work upon arrival I took the doc out of the box and the only instructions was an image that showed how to connect the dock. I did this and the only thing that worked was the monitor. I called tech support, after a series of phone calls and then a long wait to talk to someone. They suggested updating the Bios on my Lenovo computer that I bought 4 months ago. I did this and the dock still only had internet and monitor. The USB ports and the power supply did not work. I then went online and found out that there is a driver that needs to be installed. No where in the instructions was there any mention of drivers or updates. Just a picture showing what plugs into what. So I eventually figured out how to install the drivers. I also found out that the Dock required a firmway update! I just bought it and it already needed an update. OK So now the all the ports work. However, the unit still is not capable of powering my computer. I cannot run both the Dock and the computer power supply, as they use the same port. So if I want to use the Dock, I have to run on battery power. I called Lenovo again and after a 40 minute wait talked to a tech support person. After explaining what was wrong (took longer than it should have), he decided that the Dock was non-functional and is sending me a replacement! So what can you say when they send you a brand new non functional docking station? They don;t mentioned anything about drivers and installation! Maybe once I get it working (hopefully) I will like it, but.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice But.... Good size on my desk and the one cable hookup is convenient. The one problem I have with it is that for some reason when you unplug the laptop and then plug it back in you can't reconnect with the network (Ethernet) without unplugging the power to the dock. Basically you have to restart the dock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best TB dock I've used so far. I've tried the TB16, what ever it is that HP sells, and the Lenovo. Only the Lenovo dock has worked flawlessly with other manufacturer's laptops. It's also smaller form factor than the TB 16 and far more stylish while being cheaper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Thunderbolt dock Type 40AC is not recognized by ThinkPad P52s. I ordered this dock because my old one stopped replicating the display and ethernet ports, was just a passthrough for power supply to my ThinkPad P52s. The new one behaved exactly the same way out of the box. Our IT folks installed the latest drivers on my laptop, but both old and new continued to behave the same. When attempting to update the firmware in the dock, an error message appeared "Dock not detected" (may not be the exact message, something along that line). I am at a loss. I'm thinking of returning the new one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommended but doesn't work with my laptop I chatted with an expert onsite to validate I was ordering the correct dock. It is designed for my laptop but it doesn't work effectively with it. The monitors blink off and on after a couple hours of use. Company tech support validated this box is not a good choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product Has Significant Issues That Have Never Been Fixed I used this for a few days with no issues, but eventually I began to experience an issue that seems to be very common among other owners; the dock disconnects suddenly and repeatedly. This causes all USB peripherals to disconnect and for monitors to lose their signal. I am using this in the proper manner and with only the included parts and a supported laptop. I have updated firmware on both the dock and the laptop as troubleshooting steps and the issue still occurs. Major time sink and literally costing productivity which costs money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works well. Works well, not too large or heavy. Charges the laptop thru the thunderbolt port. I've only used the display ports and USB. Only drawback is the power supply for it is 135W and twice the size/weight of the laptops native power supply.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Product but uses a Higher Wattage Power Adapter All features works as described. Excellent unit, single USB C/Thunderbolt Cable provide power and data to the laptop. That makes cable management easier. It does require to use 135W Power adapter included on the box. Using lower wattage adapter will not charge the laptop trough the single USB C Cable. Make sure not to mix with the normal 90W from previous devices. Great docking station.
