ThinkPad USB-C Docking Station is a GO!
The ThinkPad USB-C Docking Station gives me the extra ports I need for three monitors and webcams and lolts of other USB devices. No complicated setup. Small size makes it easy to place out of the way and still connect all cables. But a little more spacing would make it easier for my fumble fingers! :-) Go for it!

Works as expected and it's nice to have my ports back on my laptop!
I do wish the ports were all on the same side so it would be easy to manage cords. And I wish the computer would know where my headphones were plugged in so I didn't have to switch it on my sound settings.

The ThinkPad Dock - An essential part of any laptop / desktop setup or home office
The ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2 should be part of your arsenal at home and in the office. It allows for convienent routing of all of your laptops processes through a single usb-c to your laptop while keeping cables organized. There is nothing like showing up at you desk, plugging in a single cable, and getting right to work. Then unplugging a single cable when you leave.
I am constantly on the go in a typical day and the ThinkPad Dock allows me to quickly move from my desk to wherever I am needed. This enables me to have the best of both worlds, using my laptop as a desktop with a big monitor while maintaining the portability of my laptop when I need it. Nobody has time to connect and disconnect 10 cables every time you get up from your desk.
While a little pricy, the ThinkPad Dock is definitely worth every penny and it has transformed my day to day life.

Very good unit. Works well.
Suggestions: USB 3 ports should have the standard "blue" insert to distinguish them from the USB 2 ports. Diagram could also be more specific as to which was which. Diagram could also be LARGER!
I could have used 1 more HDMI port an 1 less display port. I had to buy a separate adapter.

A no brainer choice for a Docking Station
I am now on my 7th purchase of this great Docking station,- Effortless to connect and automatically detected when plug in extended monitor and other peripherals. All properly detected on computer with the one single USB-C cable. I love the abundant USB port available.

It's not just for Lenovo
This dock will even work on a Mac with out installing software. The features are great but the Thunderbolt drivers are a pain in the butt. I have had some of the docks to go bad but Lenovo replaces them with no hesitation.

Lenovo USB-C Dock
Easy setup. USB and UCB-C from Doc to laptop which uses two ports. USB-C for power and USB for connection used to manage Video, Network, etc.
Expands the laptop to multiple displays and user friendly setup
Would be nice it it was USB-C to the laptop for all.

Firmware update required
These docks work amazing...after a firmware update. When you receive them, they will be on a slight older firmware. A quick internet search for "lenovo dock gen 2 firmware" will get you to the firmware update. After that, all of the little issues they might have (display not working) typically go away.

Lenovo ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2 - docking station
This dock has met our expectations as we plan to roll this out to thousands of users with Lenovo laptops. Love the HDMI possibility and the dock is compatibility with other non-Lenovo laptops.
Have not been able to test it with 4K dual screens but probably will never deploy this setup in corporate environment.

Like the 1st Gen - Constantly Recurring Ethernet & Display Failures
Just as on the First Generation of this product, we are seeing intermittent failures of both Ethernet and DisplayPort connections on these Lenovo USB-C docks. We never had any issues with the docks that used the bottom-of-the laptop connector/bus; nothing like this was a problem with Thinkpads for the decades that they had the bus on the base of them for docking.
The problems encountered usually happen more than one time a work-week per PC, and to a good portion of our users with these devices (at least 1 in 5, more like 1 in 4 on a bad week) We have bundled these (and the 1st Gen.) with the user's latest Lenovo Thinkpad's (T480's and T490's ...the T470s on the old docks worked wonderfully).
Updating drivers and firmware does not resolve the issue. Nor does updating the OS.
For those looking for "fixes":
The Ethernet will say "Cable Unplugged" in Windows suddenly - and no amount of fiddling with software settings or the Ethernet cables will resolve the issue - if you are lucky removing the power from the dock and reconnecting it will fix the issue maybe half the time.
With the DisplayPorts, one of the displays will stop working - usually windows will see it as still connected and receiving signal though. The fix for this issue usually involves disconnecting the dongle from the DispalyPort and then reconnecting it 15 seconds later. This again only works about 50% of the time.
For the times when the above fixes do not work, rebooting the laptop with the dock disconnected is required. Then to resolve you reconnect the dock, with everything connected, and your Ethernet and/or Displays should begin to work again.
I would estimate this affects 15-20% of the laptops with these devices, and is a source of major inconvenience. Fortunately most our laptops are still T470's or older, which can use the bottom- connector of those laptops to connect docks that act as actual port-replicators, instead of USB hubs.
The only permanent solution I can see here is, buying the high-priced version of the Lenovo docks that connects both to the USB-C port, and to the other port (proprietary?) positioned immediately next to the USB-C in the recessed slot on the left of our laptops; these two ports act in conjunction as one single super-port, so to speak (basically it acts like the bus Thinkpad's had on the bottom of the laptop until about the past year and half - it was a VERY reliable way of docking). When this connection is used with the nearly $300 premium dock, the ports are all actual replications of existing hardware on the system - no new hardware shows up (except for an additional USB hub for more USB ports) - and the replicated ports that show up just as the existing connections in "network connections" and "device manager" function perfectly as did the old dock that connected via the bottom of the T400-T470 series Thinkpad laptops.
