About the same weight as my laptop. I don’t mind because the amount of protection is well worth the weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did not work. It was a struggle to get it on the iPad Pro and I was afraid of damaging the device. Once on, my device would not turn on in spite of no obvious problem and repeated attempts. When I took the case off - again a challenge - the device promptly turned on, even though I was worried I might have damaged the on/off switch in my attempts to get the iPad to start while in the case. I did not relish trying to get the case back on and maybe damaging the device, so I gene up at that point and bought another case.

I only use my iPad at home as a tv so to be able to stand it straight up on the stand or when I’m sitting up in bed to let it lie down on upright is perfect for me. I wanted the magic keyboard at one point but I’m so glad due to price I decided to do this case because it made me realize I didn’t really need the keyboard!

Best purchase ever! I have the 12.9 inch one and it protects it so well! I like the soft runner outside with the hard case inside. The built in screen protector Is awesome! The outside helps you grip it too so jt doesn’t fall out of your hands. I would highly recommend getting this for any tablet that you have.

I don’t really like the area where you store your pencil for charging as this is open most of the time. And the cover over the front of case is shiny and has glare. But for a device this expensive you need good protection.

There are multiple layers of protective coverings, and the plastic shield works great and doesn’t bother me as I was afraid it would. This makes it pretty clunky, but I’d rather have the protection.

The biggest issues where Otterbox failed on, was no where to store the Apple pencil, just the flap you open to charge it, and that flap is poor design too. Not going to last long. And if you have the cover on the back, you can't access the charging port or Apple pencil port. Lastly, for the price you pay, it should have been designed a lot better. I have lots of different Otterbox cases over the years and happy with them, but very disappointed with this one. Would not recommend at all, unless they fix their design flaws

I gave the case 5 stars, however, there are 2 small problems. I also got the Apple Pencil (which was worried it might have a problem with the protected screen covering-works like a champ) I am not crazy about how part of the rubber has to be lifted so pencil can go next to iPad Pro when it is being charged-but this is about the only thing Otterbox could do with the way Apple set up the charging. Also the stand for me stands to straight up and the other one lays to flat but as heavy as it is this is the way it has to be. Otterbox has the best cases as far as I am concern. I

My only criticism is that the stand is awkward to use especially if you are using the iPad as a communication device for a person with a disability. It would be much better if it was built in to the case, rather than having to remove the back panel to use the stand.

I bought it so I would have a stand for my iPad but the stand only has two setting and neither of them are setting I can watch it on. When it is in the most upright setting the whole things tumbles forward causing my iPad to fall. In the most laid down setting it is not able to be viewed in any position. I had to buy a new case after I bought yours and do not use your case because the stand is so nonfunctional. I am very displeased because I have your case on my iPhone and it has worked for me. Unfortunately because the product doesn’t work how you advertise it will I am not able to use it and am very frustrated that I ever bought it. I hope you can fix this issue for people in the future who do choose to buy your product. I will not be buying any of your products again because I am so disappointed with this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Swing and a miss I have owned countless otter box cases but this one for me misses the mark big time. The Apple Pencil integration feels flimsy and makes me think it will break off one day. It also makes the back of the case loose compared to my defender I have on my old iPad. The stand also makes it sit almost straight up and down when in the tall configuration. In the past it sit slightly back making it much more enjoyable as a viewing angle. I will be returning this as it’s way too expensive for these flaws. Otter box please fix this case so I can return to my favorite case it was perfect on older iPads. And take note of other companies and just build a strong slot to put the pencil in that’s always there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed The case is very protective. I didn’t like the screen shield. It had too much glare and didn’t I much care for the touch feel. As far as the position tilt choices, there really only two, wether The tablet is diagonal or horizontal. One at 90 degrees, which was very awkward, and the other I would estimate at 35-40 degrees, which is really only good for typing.

I wouldn't trust my devices in anything else but a Otterbox. In fact I didn't even purchase my new Ipad until The Otterbox case was available to purchase. If you want the best protection for your device, get yourself a Otterbox.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've been damaging electronic devices for 3 years I spotted this in a US review which was all praise and having just bought my most expensive iPad ever I needed the reassurance that when I dropped it, there wasn't going to be another expensive time consuming repair. The Otterbox is perfect. My pen and slim keyboard fit inside for the few occasions I need to take them - 4 viewing positions and built like a truck. Cannot fault in any way.

However there are a few things on the defender for the new iPad 12.9 that could have been done better. #1. It’s very heavy. Annoying but not a dealbreaker. What is a dealbreaker for me is the door they built into the silicone for the Apple Pencil. I feel like it will tear or wear out way too soon. Lastly, the cover for the USB port is stiff and puts pressure on the plug, bending it. I’m sure this can’t be good in the long run. Ir was the same for my iPad 3, so my solution was to simply cut it off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Defender for iPad Pro 4th gen Not all that and a bag of chips. Tried to duplicate the cover from the iPhone, but it just doesn't work with the iPad. A flimsy cover goes over the iPencil and it has torn off already. Why can't you combine the strength and back protection of this cover with the cover that has the flap over the front of the device that folds into a computer stand? That would be primo and fold over the Pencil and not tear off. Very disappointed in this and I have touted Otterbox products for years.

It needs to be redesigned so it can be tilted back a little bit or make it more adjustable so the iPad can be seen at different levels. I cannot not have in certain areas because it will tilt over. I hope that this is fixed soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricey, but well worth it,. After cracking one iPad screen and denting the case on its replacement, I had to get a case as rugged as the one on my new iPhone. The Defender does the job admirably. It’s not waterproof, but I don’t expect to take my new iPad Pro swimming or outside in the rain. My one complaint: the slope of the iPad when lying down is too flat and, when standing up, is too vertical for comfort, when viewing or writing with a Bluetooth keyboard. I put the case on a THICK three-ring binder that is sitting on the iPad’s box. This, both raises the screen and tilts it back. Suggestion: add several detents on the brace to enable the user to set the iPad at different angles.

I own OtterBox Defender series cases for iPhones: 3GS, 4, 4+, 5, 6S+, 11 Pro Max, & iPad 10.4’ & iPad Pro 12.9’. Every device has never broken regardless the fall, toss or kick, had the iPad Pro 12.9” fall off the top of a 5 foot 9 inch refrigerator to a concrete floor with out a scratch or bruise to the iPad or case. Amazing cases, AMAZING! So say a little price, I’m telling you worth EVERY PENNY. Thank OtterBox, keep doing it right!

We have not lost a single piece of technology to a drop, fall, water, or other impact in all that time. I teach and take an iPad and phone into a middle school daily. Great protection. My wish is for a way to transport my Apple pencil inside the case. It works for charging, but no security for transporting the Apple pencil with me.

We’ve taken this thing camping, driven it all the way to Belize, dropped our iPad a ton, it just protects really really well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just What I Need! I did not want a folio-type case, because my plan was to use my iPad Pro (4th gen) as a camera and scanning device. Otterbox Defender is perfect because it does not get in the way of these activities. But there's so much more: The Defender is a superb match for the device, from the buttons on its silicon cover to the flap that opens so that one can charge one's Apple Pencil (2nd gen). Also, the tablet stand that comes with the Defender is useful for watching videos or using the device as a laptop. I should add: (1) If planning to add a SIM card to the device, do so before installing the Defender; the Defender does not have a flap near the SIM card tray. (2) Be patient when first installing the Defender (and insert the device into the pencil-side of the Defender first for the best result).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Viewing angles a little strange While strong and sturdy, the only odd thing is the viewing angles - either a bit "flat" (could be raised another 10 or 15° - closer toward 45° for a more comfortable typing angle), while the "upright" position is almost too upright and almost falls forward out of the stand.

The new 4th Gen I pad cover is just spectacular - lightweight and not difficult to remove or put back on. Am disappointed there’s only one color available, BUT totally worth every dollar spent on it. Every time I take my Apple devices to trade in, the reps are always surprised at the ‘great condition’ they’re in...and I have my legion of Otterbox covers to thank for that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the price Have always been a fan of OtterBox products not necessarily because of the price but because of the durability. When you spend the money for a device, you need the case to protect your investment. My new iPad is just that an investment & is just nearly the same size as my work laptop. Keep up the good work OtterBox.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product, with flaws... I bought this product at a big box store about 2 months ago, when I got my new iPad Pro. I like the rugged protection it provides as I am hard on equipment. I’ve had otter box products in the past and always liked them with very little issue. However, there are a couple issues you should know about before you buy. 1. It’s heavy. Now I realize that it offers great protection, but dang, it makes it heavy. Without getting into weights, etc. just suffice it to say, plan on it being heavy. 2. The on/off button doesn’t line up well, therefore I have to take the cover off to shut the unit down. That’s a deal breaker for me because it’s a pita to do! 3. The stand doesn’t lay back far enough causing the iPad to be front heavy. Not a deal breaker in and of itself, but it adds up to a negative for me. 4. The usb cover is so tight that it bent the usb connector over the course of a month. Not a problem to cut it off, but not what i to do with my $100 plus iPad cover. Like I said, I’ve always had good service out my other otter box items,that’s why I bought this one... would I purchase another otter box? Yes, but not for the iPad Pro.
