Love it but one big issue...
I have bought and used OtterBox products for many many years. They have never disappointed. If you know OtterBox, then you will know what you are getting with this. On a side note, I actually bought this twice because my Tab S4 was stolen at LAX (my fault for leaving it at the security checkpoint after taking it out of my bag). I live in Japan and it was not available on the Japanese OtterBox website. I also bought the tablet in US Amazon because it was much cheaper. I even had my family ship the tablet to me in the OtterBox case because of the protection this provides and it came in absolutely perfect condition.
Usually, I remove the plastic screen protector and use a tempered glass screen protector instead on OtterBox products due to the weird feel and extra glare.
This time I'm leaving it on until it gets scratched or damaged because it doesn't feel that bad and makes the writing with the S Pen feel better as it adds more resistance which I like in my particular use of the pen.
However, the biggest issue and only complaint I have is the S Pen storage implementation in the hard cover. It is extremely difficult to take the pen out to the point where you think you might either break the pen or the plastic tabs that keep it in place. I have to use something flat top pry it out from the bottom part of the pen to make me feel like I'm not damaging anything. I feel that there is a much more elegant solution to this.
All in all, this is the absolute best case available for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. I have never been treated badly by OtterBox and the warranty they give you is excellent. They even shipped me a brand new case for my phone many years later when the rubber was getting warped due to stretching it many times. You should definitely get this if you want piece of mind and especially if you don't have accident insurance.

Tablet is Safe!

Quality is not that good anymore
Had before with my iPad pro 9.7 , was pleased with quality and how it fits, but after I lost my iPad with the case I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab s4, and ofcourse decided to get otterbox for protection my tablet. Case are more soft, and the cover doesn't click as it supposed to be. Also the front protection not sitting tight on display. Its annoying.

Otterbox has overpriced this product upon release is 80ish bucks.... the engineering/production could not have been that hard to make this product.
That being said. they did a good job of designing the best protection that keeps the stylus & tablet stand included. multiple stand uses, keeps s pen inside case when closed. & solid screen protection when shield is on. (good for throwing in bag truck wherever and its fine if something lands on it.
would be a 5star rating if it wasn't for the price. ofc i also have the otterbox pro defender for my note 9 512gb. ; thing saved my note9 from a 10' fall bouncing off a concrete wall then hitting concrete floor!! barely a nic in the case.

This is my third Otterbox product and I haven't been disappointed yet. The cover is awesome it works just like all their other cases, very easy to assemble. The best part of the case is the lid part with the adjustable angles very handy for a tablet.

I bought this tablet for my 8 year old son and waited patiently for this case to come out. Although expensive, this case is worth every penny. Now I don't have to worry about my investment.

New Product, Best On The Market
About this Otterbox about a month ago In preparation for the arrival of my S10 plus. I couldn't have a defenders series because of The power share capability of the S10 +. So I needed the back of the phone open/ Clear of two layers of case. I LOVE this Otterbox, Still has the rugged Drop rotection of the defender series with a clear back, allowing you to show off the color and name of your phone. I'm impressed, this case also works Great with my suction cup cellphone holder in my truck. The clear plexi glass back makes for a good stick. Good Protection
Recently purchased the Otter Box Defender Series for my new tablet. It's a good fit, however, the plastic screen cover is a bit "loose" (?) and the screen occasionally doesn't acknowledge a tap on the screen.

Very Sturdy Case
The case is very sturdy and the stand works well. The storage area for the pen is a little tight, making removal a little difficult, but I am sure it will loosen with use.

Case is great overall, BUT, I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED that a $90 would have such a horribly fit screen protector that I had to cut it out to use the device. Bubbled everytime, and putting on device cases is a part of my job. AND the S Pen s horrible on the screen protector.

It is okay, it need to hold tablet in portrait mode. This case is not supporting it. It also should have better way of holding the s pen.I have older cases, for Samsung note pro 12.2 and that Otterbox case is much quality, more raised screen edges and much thicker leather back while I am not seeing the quality in this Samsung tab s4 otterbox as are in other cases. Stand is good provide screen protection.

Perfect for Samsung Galaxy s4 Tablet
Having had several Otterbox cases for my smart phones (most recently a Samsung Note 9), when it was time to purchase a case for my new s4 I went immediately to Otterbox. This case is absolutely over the top best in class!!
Several comments:
Wish there was a rubber port opening for the sd card. As designed, have to take the case apart to access the card. Not a deal breaker, but given the procedure to undress the case of the tablet......something to consider on future designs
Case is heavy and adds alot of weight to an otherwise light tablet. Not a negative, just be prepared for the weight.
Only complaint/personal preference....the built in plastic screen protector should either be customer removable or deleted entirely. It is not the new generation glass and adds glare and absolutely changes the feel of the touch screen.
So......here is what I did. I took the part of the case that contained the touch screen and carefully and meticulously exised off the clear plastic screen using a new sharp single edged razor blade. Finished by sanding with edges of the case with finest emory paper. The result.....factory case w/o the screen protector. Again, not a complaint so much as a wish for this exact case w/o the "not best in class" screen protector.
I use the s4 with Otterbox case for professional use as a private investigator and also as a display for flying a drone.
Thank you for building this case for the new s4 tablet. Perhaps cases in the other Otterbox lines are coming. Symmetry perhaps.

This my third otterbox case for my tablet I like a case that gives me full protection on my tablet I have otterbox on both my tablets and my phone they both arrived on the same day but different times my tablet arrived in the morning while the case arrived in the afternoon I happen to be going to get the mail when the FedEx truck pulled up to the house and yes I played for two day shipping because I did not want almost did want almost a week without a case on my tablet I got a discount through work so I got 15% off the case and I have always been an otterbox fan since got it on my phone it more useful on my phone since work in retail at a grocery store as a bagger and move around a lot my phone attends to get unhooked from the belt holder

Better built than most saftey equipment
I work in heavy construction, and don't even hesitate bringing my tablet on site. I wouldn't recommend it it, but it could be used for other things such as; chulking your tires on a hill, bracing a trailer Jack on soft ground, body armor in a paintball match.

I have two Otterbox cases for my two Samsung tablets. They offer excellent protection and make me feel far more secure when carrying/using my tablets. The newer one, for my Galaxy Tab S4 is a little disappointing in that the designers did not see fit to include a means of holding the pen/probe.

Exactly what I needed to protect my new Tablet!!
So I have had the case on the tablet for about a week nowand it has met all my expectations. It is durable, well constructed, fits perfectly, and the best part is it stores the Samsung Pen super securely. I have no fear of losing the pen. It has a great stand option that works great for watching or typing at 2 different angles. Completely met my expectations.

I debated on buying this for a while because of the high price but when I finally saw a sale I immediately ordered it and saw the Awsome quality and protection of this product, it was outstanding and I'm happy that I bought it . The Defender series is top-notch. I highly recommend this product. I can promise you that this is a well worth the investment when protecting your tablet . I will never doubt OtterBox again.

Excellent fit, finish and workmanship. Awesome product to protect the Tab S4. I use it for work out in the field everyday and wouldn't be without it. Awesome product. Bonus is the thin layer of plastic material that covers the screen. Essentially makes the tablet waterproof. A++++

Very good purchase
Great product, and protection I need in the oil field. However, when attaching the cover on the back the rear facing camera is useless, because no hole for the camera. Also the folding stand mounted inside of the cover needs a small rubber bumper to keep it up and off the screen protector to prevent it from scratches while it's on.

The case is wonderful, except it would be nice if they would make a couple of changes. These couple of changes could apply to all defender series OtterBoxes. They should change the little rubber flaps that open for the charging port and the headphone jack to little plastic doors on a hinge that clicks open and shut like on the LifeProof FRE cases. They should also make these cases water-proof, similar to the FRE LifeProof case. That way the device is protected if it is ever submerged in water and makes it easier to clean, because you can just put the entire device under running water and the device will be protected. Changing out the rubber flaps for a little door on a hinge is good because that way the rubber part of the case doesn't start to separate from the plastic and become loose like it does currently with the cases over time.

Worth every penny
After a year of using the keyboard built for the Tab S4, I decided to go with safety over typing, as most of the things I do with the S4, I do with the stylus. If I need to do serious typing, I'll stick to using a PC. But what I enjoy about the Defender Case is that it's peace of mind, as well as an amazingly sturdy setup. I have a Defender Case for my iPad, and for my Note 10+. I had one for my Note 8, and my Note 5, and the iPhone 4S in 2010 (when I started using Otterboxes.
If you can get it, get it!

I have been using Otterbox since my Samsung Galaxy S5 through S9 and tablet Galaxy Tab 4. Just bought the the Galaxy Tab S4. Always using the Defender series. They're all great. Also great customer service. Wouldn't use any other type of case.

Initially bought a Samsung folio cover and it just wasn't protect it at all. I also couldn't find any protective covers that would fit the face of the tablet everyone was saying that they just didn't make it so this OtterBox is an excellent alternative its protective and the entire table is covered including the screen. I also love that there is a spot for the pen. Definitely worth it.

Solid protection
This is my second OtterBox Defender tablet case. I also had one for a larger Android tablet and it did a fantastic job of protecting the tablet and it's screen. I have a lot of confidence in this case and it really makes all the difference in my enjoyment of my new Galaxy Tab S4. With this case I know the tablet is protected.

Inexpensive armor for new tech
Bought the Otterbox Defender for my Tab S4 after having Otterbox Defender Series boxes on 6 different Samsung Notes, a Note 3, a Note 4, 2 Note 7s, a Note 8 and my new Note 9. I have never had any damage of any kind, ever! Inexpensive insurance for my technology.
