Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product has some great features for the small I bought this printer several years ago. It functions well, first time every time. I bought it because I do lots of card stock printing of items I later watercolor so I needed a printer that did not use ink as it is impossible to water color on ink printed copies. I also like to make colored copies. While the machine is reliable. I have two things I miss a great deal compared to an earlier model that used the original Laser printing process with powered colored laser toners. That printer from Xerox was considerably more expensive to purchase a bit more work and way more cost to purchase the printing supplies. However those laser color printed items were absolutely beautiful and I could do them very quickly on card stock! Even on the heavier water color printer paper. The Versa Link C500 is simply not in the same price range nor in the print quality range. However, if you need to simply makes lots of copies that do not need to be extra special then this is the machine for your home office. The other thing I miss is the ability to always talk to a tech person if I need help with the machine. The chat session way of making customers happy just is not the same a real person and it is huge waste of time to have to type in every bit of the information needed for the Robot helper to figure out what is needed. It may be cheaper for Xerox but sometimes cheaper is inviting the customer to buy cheap products at a big box store and replace every couple of years. A real Customer Service rep indicates that the company thinks enough of their customers that they supply reps who will talk to the customer to problem solve issues. I just can't understand why any company does cheaper customer service only to see that customer never buy from them again? The black print is excellent but the color print toners for the Versa C500 are simply not as good a color quality and not as sharp in print details as the old type of Laser toner supplied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great workhorse for small office environment Print quality and speed are awesome, and the paper drawer takes the entire paper ream. We have two (2) of these in the office and never jammed or had any issues in about two (2) years. You need to be aware that you need to keep stock of four (4) toners, one (1) for each color (C,Y,M,K) plus a waste cartridge. Other than that, print, forget about this printer until you need to replace something.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive to maintain Typically Xerox makes a great product, but this is not one of them. I have ink bleed onto the paper and the Xerox guy could not fix it. Also the replacement costs for the ink alone exceed the price of a new printer. Not to mention all the other maintenance items needed to use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good...but! Over all this is an excellent Printer. The cartridges are very easy to change. The display clearly identifies errors and upcoming issues. For a personal use or individual small business use this printer would be great. I, however, work in a twenty person office. AT least 15 employees have access to this printer. I notice that it breaks down or sends error codes a lot. In the past two years there have been at least 8 service calls. I have had to work on this printer at least ten times in addition to that. I believe the problem has to do with the type of printing jobs our employees require. This has been a frustrating printer to use for our office.

Working with tech support we replaced the transfer module several times which never resolved the issue. All of this took time. We needed that printer in operation, so we bought another brand. It was a mistake on our part, but the C500 got shuffled to the side and the warranty expired. It was an excellent printer while it worked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OK Printer First, I am hard-wired into the printer, not wifi. Very slow first page. Goes to sleep mode way too quickly. Time-consuming having to push the button after you pull out the tray to load or change paper before printing. Have to push OK too many times to print a letter on letterhead and then an envelope and then back to bond paper. The memory will only print 5 or six pages of a report before pausing. I bought as much memory as they sell. Toner usage is better than average. Xerox support is OK, but to get warranty service you have to belong to some club thing that I think I belong to but find that I don't when I call and when I try to set up the club account I find I have an account I can't get in to. When I call the service team back they tell me I don't have an account. For that reason, tech support gets an "F".

It is fast, quiet, and the quality is great. If you sign up for Xerox Concierge, you have absolutely no worries, Xerox takes care of you!

Rated a bit lower on Ease of use because updating it wasnt working from the printer UI. But could update it by downloading the file manually. Can be a bit tricky to setup correctly, but this is same for any printer... Once its setup it delivers consistent results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet Quick and Neat! My Versa link printer has two trays to choose from. Easy to keep checks in one tray and plain paper in the other! Everything is on a screen right up front so you can "steer" it wherever you need to go! Directions and choices show up on the screen and you choose the options. My ink cartridges last a long time. all the papers print to the top of the printer making it easy to access. The print is clear and easy to read. I have used many printers and this is my top one! Fast, quiet and easy directions. I love the concierge service! It tells me when to order more products! It sends it to my email. I never forget to order and best of all, the service if I need it is free! I haven't ever had to use it but if something happens I sure plan to take advantage of it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does a great job with standard paper sizes. However, envelop printing is difficult and the quality deplorable. This printer does a great job printing flat 8.5" x 11" jobs, and is exceptionally fast on two sided prints. However, jobs printed from the by-pass tray are not only more difficult to set-up, but also tend to jam if printing on card-stock or envelopes. In addition, the quality of printing on either card-stock or envelopes using the by-pass tray is absolutely horrible as the print smears in the device as it passes through, so I am being forced to print these on my B/W Kyocera if I want decent quality. I much preferred the Xerox Colorqube. Although it was slower, it was more user friendly and allowed me to print excellent color quality.

It lets you know when you need to order new ink, when the paper is out it, and each time you print it gives a notification on the computer saying "print job complete." It fits a whole ream of paper inside! The prints come out very quickly and clearly. No complaints - I would recommend to other businesses to have in their office.

I like the way it prints fast and prints quality copies both 2 sided and single. The control panel is really great because it tilts up where it is easy to read while sitting at the computer. The other item I like is that it lets me know when the print job is finished even if it is 1 copy or multiple copies. I am enjoying a job well done with this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product works well but...... The Xerox C500 prints fast and with good quality but be advised that it eats up ink cartridges at an alarming rate. That isn't the worst part. It has a waste cartridge that fills up and the printer will quit printing with no warning until it's replaced so if you do purchase this printer, make sure to purchase extra ink and an extra waste cartridge. We've also had issues with the printer not loading paper from time to time. It seems that the weight or thickness of the paper is more of an issue with this printer than others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versa C500 More Trouble Than It Should Be I decided to replace my Phaser printer when it needed more ink (over $1200 for new ink!). The salesman told me they were not making the Phaser anymore and that I should try the latest and greatest Versa C500. My Phaser had the nicest print quality so I really didn't want to switch to a printer that didn't use solid ink. For financial reasons, however, I decided to try the Versa. From the start it was a nightmare! The printer didn't interface well with my legal software (WordPerfect) even though I had the latest, most up to date version of it. The printer was not consistent. Sometimes I had to program the printer separate from the prompts in my software - sometimes I didn't. If I switched from printing an envelope to letterhead, the printer had to be shut down even though I selected letterhead in my software print command and changed the selection on the Versa online print screen. I would even change it on the printer itself. No luck. When I switch from legal paper to standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper, this will also cause confusion for the printer, as does switching to labels. It simply cannot make the switch without a major ordeal! I have a busy practice and don't have time for a finicky printer. PLEASE bring back the Phaser!!! I don't need or want a printer that claims to do everything from t-shirts to stickers, etc. I just want a printer that can easily switch from letterhead to legal to labels to envelopes without requiring the need for technical assistance! In other words - user friendly for the non- technical user. This machine never operates the same way twice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Speed and Color We loved our three successive models of Xerox solid ink printers but decided to replace our latest one with the VersaLink when Xerox phased out the line. We were amazed at the print quality, the fast first page out time and the overall speed. This is a great printer. My only issue after a year of use is what seems to be the high cost of toner. But considering that service calls are free (even though we haven't needed any) if you're on the Xerox toner program I can't really complain.

One day it just died from cardiac arrest (RAM ERROR). So, I ordered this one and it came in one day. As I said, it had all I wanted and more. The more is that it is also wireless! Awesome machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not for one individual's use I am not happy with the number of buttons I have to push when I change from the main tray to the bypass tray. I should be able to out an envelope or letterhead page in the bypass and have the printer automatically print from the bypass tray without requiring a further touch command on the printer. The printer is slow for the first page, but fast from page two and beyond. Two-sided printing is fast and efficient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Xerox VersaLink C500 is Fantastic Me receiving the Xerox C500 was a situation of dire necessity... My previous Xerox printer was becoming a thing of the past, and was being phased out. Being a small company of one - I needed a printer I could use to print training manuals for my students. One that was reliable and that printed beautiful copies. My C500 arrived and was easy to setup. I installed the WIFI adapter on the back of the printer, and in no time I was able to see the new printer on my network. After printing the first couple of pages, my first impression was one of wow ! This printer is lightning FAST ! I can print out a copy of my training material in about a quarter of the time it used to take - and that is utilizing the double sided copy feature. There were printers I had used in the past that required me to purchase a "Duplexer" in order to perform two sided copies. This is built in to the printer, and does not require a separate purchase. BONUS ! The lower paper tray can hold almost an entire ream of paper. This is a big plus, as I don't have to refill it as often. Now I can print several copies of my training material, and don't have to get up as often to "feed the printer". Very pleased with the alternate feed tray as well, as one can feed envelopes there, as well as heavy cardstock paper I use for the front copy of my training material. The display is a full color graphics touchscreen display - not an LCD 3 or 4 line cryptic display that one navigates with a joystick control. The menu display makes selections very easy to perform by the touch of a button - no mistakes about what you are doing or where you are in the menu structure. The display / main control also can lay down flat against the top of the printer, or can be continuously tilted to a vertical position. This makes viewing and operating the printer easy. One does not have to loom over the printer to get a good view of the display. There are four (what appears to be) easily replaceable toner cartridges that are easily accessible from the front of the printer. This should make replacement of the toner very easy. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase and look forward to many years of service from the Xerox C500. For a small office, this should be YOUR printer of choice.

The printer prints fast, the tray holds a whole ream of paper compared to others that didn't hold that much. The color on prints seem to be bright, the depth of the printout holder is nice for large reports with a lot of pages. the touch screen is easy to use and is functional. Overall, very happy with the printer.

Too many cartridges and confusing for everyone who touches it. It would be okay for a very techy IT person, but not for the average work place environment. Print quality and speed are good, but not worth the hassle of constantly trying to figure out the errors messages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is middle of the road in many areas for my needs I have a much older Xerox color laser printer which I still own but the toner has gotten more expensive than buying a new printer. The older printer is the best ever .The Versa 500 is very easy to use. The ouput time is great, the number of pages printed is certainly adequate a for home office use. However the toner is a different type than the older printer so the colors are washed out to a degree and not as clean or accurate to the actual colors I want printed. Toner is still very expensive so it would be nice to get better quality of colors printed. I will not buy in this line of printer again. I love working with Xerox but recenty they went to call back system or online help only and that is very discouraging while that is not a printer issue it certainly is a customer service issue. I would prefer to stay with Xerox but that change alone is asking me to explore other options for both the color laser printer which is a must for my work & the needed customer service to be able to call in for help. I still prefer Xerox as a company to support. The versa is fine for a mid range color laser printer and if that meets ones needs the price of it certainly a good choice.

The yield per cartridge is a lot less than our previous Xerox Phaser. The print quality and speed is excellent. The cost and toner cartridge yield is an issue .

Upon following directions I got a paper jam that could not be pulled out. The technician requested that a service technician contact me to repair the problem. He said I would be contacted that day for an appointment. It never happened. I called on March 31st was told I would be contacted that day NO CONTACT I called on April 1st was told I would be contacted that day for an appointment NO CONTACT I was told they had the wrong zip code when it was checked everything was correct. AN EXCUSE I called on April 5th and was told it was a high priority and wsould be contacted that day. NO CONTACT Today is April 6th and still NO CONTACT POOR SERVICE or NO SERVICE I have contacted service multiple times NO RESPONSE

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have never regretted any business purchase more. We purchased this printer 9 months ago - brand new and direct from the Xerox site (handled by CDW). It was intended to replace our Phaser ColorQube when we could no longer find parts and repair people. Our marketing department prints proposals which are critical to our company's survival. High quality images and good photo reproduction is essential. The printer is not heavily used (so far, less than 20,000 pages) and print quality has prompted us to replace the drums (more than once for each color) which fixes the quality issues but does not last long. For full color prints, this printer has been far more expensive to operate than the previous solid ink models it replaced. The toner is dull on the paper so that higher quality paper does not improve the image. Jams are fairly common. The printer and subsequent accessory large capacity base and extra trays (adding up to about $1500) have proven to be the most unfortunate business purchase I have ever made. Stay away from this printer. Run. Run far. Run fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy with this Printer I was in the process of purchasing supplies for our old Phaser, when a Xerox Rep reached out and offered a super deal on the VersaLink C500. I took her advice, bought the new printer instead and the rest is history ! Print time is super fast, even when waking from sleep mode. The quality is also top notch. We've had 2 issues that may be related to our lack of experience with the printer - 1) Periodically and unprovoked, the printer will switch to "double sided printing" mode. Sometimes we need to change settings to return it to single sided, sometimes the printer resets itself. 2) Printing from the top tray resets the paper sensor and prompts the printer to question the papersize/type of paper loaded into the tray. To the point of being unable to continue the print job. Job must be cancelled, and restarted inorder for printer to print. **MUST thank my Xerox Rep for her outstanding customer service ! She worked with me through the entire purchasing process, always answering my questions and helping with the sale. She also corrected an issue with our Xerox rebate. The original price that she quoted included several rebates, one of which could not be claimed once the purchase was made. She researched the issue, admitted the mistake and arranged to refund our money in the amount of the quoted rebate. Thank you, Loree!

WHEN MY PHASER 8560 MFP MALFUNCTIONED, I TRIED VERY HARD TO GET A REPLACEMENT WHEN XEROX REPRESENTATIVES RECOMMENDED VERSALINK C500 REPRESENTING IT A THE SAVIOR. HOWEVER, I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT IT HAS NOT LIVED UP TO THE BILLING GIVEN THE FACT THAT THE COPIES ARE NOT OF THE QUALITY I WAS USED TO GETTING FROM PHASER 8560 MFP OR OTHER XEROX PRINTERS I USED IN THE PAST. IF PHASER 8560 OR ANY PRINTERS OF THAT CALIBERS ARE REBRANDED OR MADE AGAIN, I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SUCH.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very fast This printer is very fast! It spits out the print job in no time. We are a small law firm, and the printer must be fast and reliable. We are very pleased. Initially, the printer came to us broken. There was some hassle getting it repaired. The service technician was very helpful and responsive. When he had to come back, though, we were not allowed to just call him. We had to call the company and get a new work order, even though it was related to the same problem. It turned out there was a receptacle for used toner missing, which caused our problem. Due to the company procedures, the printer sat there in my office for close to a month without being usable, which was very upsetting. We limped along with our multi function machine for that time. Now that it is fixed, we are very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very difficult to print envelopes Purchased printer for general office use. Very poor feature that you have to confirm the paper type, each time you open the paper tray. Have been working with our IT Department but cannot print an envelope from word. Who designed this machine??? Certainly would not have purchased this printer had I known this fact. Would love to have a technician from Xerox help me with these issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Printer I have now used this printer for 13 months and had know issues. After a year, I replaced the toner which was easy through the front panel. What I like about this printer is "It just Works!". It easily interfaces with all my Windows 10 programs. I like it so much I bought another one for another office I work in. I previously had a Xerox 6350 which after 6 years needed replacement, so I did my homework looking a a number of network printers and selected the C500/DN. I recommend this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product has some great features for the small or home office I have owned this machine for about 3 years. It was inexpensive and it is a color laser printer. I also own a more expensive and much older Xerox color laser printer. It is by far a Superior machine but the parts including the toner forced me to buy the C500. This newer machine is much smaller and therefore easier to move. The toner is still very spendy and not the same type as my former machine. Because of the newer toner the color printing is not as crisp or pretty but for most of my purposes this machine works nicely and it did not cost what the bigger color laser cost. Since my purchase time the Xerox site has changed their customer service connection and I find that very frustrating and wish that their customer service was more customer available. That is the major negative which now would apply to all their products. I have used Xerox products in these two machines totaling over 25 years!! I prefer Xerox and hope to see them make some changes back to more personal and available customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PRINT QUALITY AND SPEED ARE GREAT (that is, once you get it set up) This product performs quite well once you get it set up. Changing between different paper types though, is very challenging and does take time. The software features governing this device are cumbersome and clunky. If all your printing is standard 8" x 11" or 8" x 14" paper stock, this is your machine. However, there is a learning curve on changing between different types of paper such as heavy paper, card stock, or envelopes. It is definitely not intuitive, and is a bit complex, so it takes time as well (often more time than you really want to take to deal with it).

The colors are always bright and it prints large volumes of paper in a jiffy. We love this printer so much we have 6 in our office!

Was easy to set up, but discovered it would need a separate adapter ($50) to make it wireless (thus 4 stars- seems like it would come with this in this day and age of wireless everything!) Wireless connection simple after install of adapter, but still could not get the printer to update firmware. After an internet search, I was able to update firmware manually (the second reason for 4 stars) Now that I'm up and running, overall this is a good, if not great printer for my home office. Color quality is very good, and printing is FAST!

From speaking with others, this is a common occurence. When it works, it works well, but the constant down time makes it a poor choice.

Loved this one so much that I ended up buying 3 of them! Of course it's not commercial printing quality, but it is great for general office color printing. I recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would not recommend this printer to anyone This printer has been nothing but confusion and frustration since the day we got it. IF you can figure out HOW it works, it prints very well, but it is NOT user friendly at all. THEN on top of that, we were practically guaranteed that it would print No 6 envelopes and it will NOT print that size envelopes and that that is the main reason we even considered it. If we could return it, we probably would. It is NOTHING like the Color Cubes that we used to have. No, I would not recommend this printer to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer! This printer works great! It has a high printing quality and it prints at high speeds. It has touch screen controls so it is like using your smart phone. It gives you stats on demand on printing usage and supplies. It gives alerts on when to order supplies. You can view the pages remaining to print on each toner color cartridge. The toner is available in standard capacity, high capacity and extra high capacity, so I recommend figuring out your total prints per month so that you order the right capacity and not have to re order too many times in one month.

I might add that although the Xerox representative promised three day shipping, the printer actually arrived the next day. Setup was a breeze. And the Windows and Mac computers all recognized the printer without issues. The single problem I have is that the Windows 10 desktop computers tend to forget the C500 at the most inconvenient times. Usually, I can move the work from one Windows 10 desktop machine to another where the printer is recognized and the job is printed. This minor issue is never seen using the laptop (also running Windows 10) or the Mac. My wife, who is a university professor and requires highest quality and reliability, regards the C500 as an essential tool of her teaching and research profession. This is our second Xerox color laser printer - it won't be our last!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Office Duty Color Printer We had been using Epson inkjet all-in-one printers throughout the office but found their reliability and support to be sorely lacking. After doing some research, it was decided to go with a Xerox color laser because of their service duty and lower cost per sheet. Color, speed and reproduction are first rate. Paper refill is reduced thanks to the large capacity feeder tray and the duplex printing saves paper. Operation is simple. I would only caution buyers that wireless set-up is a bit more involved as we had to assign a static IP address on the network in order to print. We also had to add a dedicated 20-amp electrical line as laser printers draw a substantial load. Our overhead lights flickered regularly throughout the day until adding the circuit. There's still a light flicker on some overhead lights during the course of a print job. Overall, it's still a far better option than inkjet for an office producing hundreds of prints every week. And you can't go wrong with Xerox, the first name in copying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from high throughput work horse I share this printer with a few other lab groups on my floor. We go through 100+ pages per day and typically have no issues - jams, bad print jobs, etc. I also print on 3X5 index cards, and this printer handles these well. On occasion the printer will accidentally grab two at a time and get jammed, but this seems to happen with every printer I've ever used for printing on index cards. Fast warm up, fast printing, good quality. This printer rocks!

This new machine is pretty loud and cannot print on card stock, which is contradictory to the information the sales rep told us. The quality of printing is nice and machine was easy to set up.

If you want to change print from portrait to landscape you have to go in and type way too many directions for it to change. We are a portrait studio and frame shop and constantly use our printer to print forms and order forms . Too much involved to change direction of printing. Our phaser 6560 was much easier to use. The toner costs for this machine are at a ridiculously high price. Make the toners more affordable for each machine. We joined the toner club but have yet to use as costs are just too high. Parts for replacement cost as much as a new machine. Make parts more affordable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Quality The VersaLink C500 is my second personal Xerox printer. I recently upgraded from a Xerox Phaser 6280 which worked without a hitch for 8 years. In fact it still works, but I wanted the ability to print directly from my iPhone or iPad, which the VersaLink C500 does. I'm passing my old Phaser on to my sister. Before I got the Phaser, I used to have inkjet printers and was frustrated by how many times I had to replace the ink cartridges or clean the jets. Not only was it the expense that bothered me, but also the inconvenience of performing constant maintenance to keep the printers running properly. With the Xerox, I never had to do any maintenance at all except replace a toner cartridge now and then. I also worked with Xerox printers as a graphic design instructor at a technical college. We had Xerox Phasers in our classrooms for the students, and we had a Xerox digital press for our student handouts and other college print material. I found the Xerox models to be more reliable and faster than some other brands we had at the school. That's what convinced me to buy a Xerox printer for my own personal use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Price for an Office Computer Print quality is very good. It is extremely easy to change the toner. Literally pull out and then reinsert the new cartridge. We have the extra tray, and I highly recommend it. I might even venture to get two. The bypass tray is often used at our office, and it does slow things down quite a bit as we need to be in front of the printer and push the button to make our items print. This can be very trying to One's patience when you have printed 20 documents that this needs to be done for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ease and Consistency of Operation Over the last 6 months our family foundation has purchased two Xerox c500 Versalink printers. I purchased the first one in June. While I have been a Xerox Customer for over 14 years with various printers that just plain work, my Xerox print I purchased in 2012 needed a new laser and I couldn't wait to repair it so I purchased my first c500. It was such an easy set up out of the box and I was up and operating in 15 minutes. So I used it for two months before going to our office up north. That Xerox printer purchased in 2004 which was working fine, but I could sense it was coming to the end of its life; so I purchased another c500 for that office. The results were the same. Easy setup out of the box and consistent easy rapid printing I'm impressed both by the speed and two sided printing which I do a lot of. I highly recommend this printer with out any reservations

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid workhorse small office printer Have already run 30k pages through the printer and had to order a new waste cartridge and new toner cartridges. the toner is expensive but waste cartridge not so expensive. However, the cartridges do not need to be replaced with meaningful frequency and the copies are crisp and good, no issues with toner smudging the page even on photo pages. Very happy with quality for price.

We decide instead to get a printer that does ONE thing and does it well. And that it does. We are very happy with this printer. The ease of use, and quality or prints make this the perfect printer for daily use where print quality is crucial.
