Great keyboard
This is the third Zagg keyboard I have purchased, I use it with my iPad Pro. I take my iPad everywhere so I take the keyboard with me every where, it works great.
The reason I have had to replace the keyboard a couple of times is because I drip food on it or spill my drink, the keys start to stick.
It is a great keyboard and does provide some protection for my iPad.
It is a five star product times two !!

The materials stink and feel toxic on touch
The keyboard’s magnet couldn’t support the iPad in the Zagg case provided in the package and need a keyboard-connected plastic/rubber folder to hold the iPad/case in place. Not a keeper.
I had the original Zagg messager keyboard case when I initially purchased the iPad but the hinge wouldn’t last for a year. Prior to that, Zagg used to offer good quality but now it is just another substandard manufacture.

Great rugged case, confused in charging keyboard
Sturdy and ergonomic. Easy to take only the iPad if you want to travel light. However, the keyboard suddenly stopped responding -after a month - even though it was paired. Can’t seem to find an LED light that is supposed to tell me if it’s charging. The first zagg I owned had the ribbon supporting the stand break and couldn’t be fixed. This one will be more long lasting, I can tell!

Badly designed and unreliable
This is the second Rugged Messenger I received, after the first one would not charge and the keys kept getting stuck, repeating characters. The replacement does the same thing. Evidently the sticking keys problem is common enough that other people have written blogs about it. Save your money and buy a Logitech.

Zag no longer makes the “hard body” style. I like to use my iPad while reclining and watching television. This does not fit the bill for getting the iPad to stand at a comfortable viewing position. I like the hinged version better. I had two of those and the problem was the material around the iPad case kept coming apart and wouldn’t hold the iPad in. Otherwise the hinged case was exactly what I wanted. I wish Zagg would come up with another.

Functional & sturdy
This is a sturdy case and the keyboard is highly functional. The backlight function is nice in dim igniting, and the keys have a good feel. I like the adjustable angles of the back. The stylus holder at the top is a nice feature. The one downside (for me; for some reviewers, it is a positive) is how easily the iPad can be removed from the keyboard. I think I will get used to that, but for now, it’s kinda bothersome. I’m used to picking up and moving the iPad/keyboard as an open unit still working as I’m walking around and you absolutely can’t do that with this — not sturdy enough. Need to shut the case, move from Point A to Point B and then open it again.

As Expected
The Customer Support agent recommended this unit as a replacement for my older Zagg Slimbook Keyboard that was cracking after 4+ years. Other than the bluetooth connection dropping sporadically, it is a great unit. It fits differently than the older unit, and the stand sometimes slips on my lap -- but overall I am very satisfied with it's performance.

We owned a Rugged Keyboard for our Apple iPad Pro for 2 years and it worked perfectly. About 6 months ago we started to notice the cover, on all sides, began to disintegrate. It finally just started breaking away in little pieces. The keyboard remained in perfect condition. We ended up having to give in and buy a new one because of the great keyboard - NOT the “Rugged” cover - not rugged at all.

1month in. Needs stronger magnets on back cover. Also needs magnet on keyboard in front of space bar so device is easy to use for reading and takes up less space than when in full keyboard mode.
In lieu of magnets, have some kind of kickstand on the back cover (see Logitech)

Zagg keyboard is the best
This is my second Zagg because they are the best keyboards around for iPads. My original Zagg still works perfectly but was finally looking a little beat. Anyhow I had to have another Zagg because other keyboards ripped up on me and malfunctioned. I recommend that everyone looking for a durable keyboard get a Zagg!

New keyboard
I purchased a new Rugged Messenger for my Apple iPad 10.5 to replace one that I had purchased 5 years ago. The original one was peeling and looked very ragged. I do use my iPad a lot and was pleased with the original Rugged Messenger until it started peeling. It did protect my iPad so that is why I purchased another one. I would rate it high even though it started peeling.

This is an excellent case / keyboard / Apple Pencil holder alternative to the much more expensive Apple case offering.
